I have already paid for my delux turbo tax, now the system is trying to make me pay more for upgrade I never authorized.

I am now delayed in filing which I had an extension on due to this problem, this is the last i ever use Turbotax.

Are you entering any type of rental/royalty income and expenses or entering any type of investment gain/loss or self-employment income and expenses?  If so, you must use the Premium online edition,  Those types of income/expenses are not supported by the TurboTax Deluxe online edition.

Or did you buy the Deluxe Desktop program but end up in the Online version?

No I know exactly what I bought! They are trying to illegally upsell’

If you purchased the TurboTax Deluxe desktop edition, the software may be recommending that you upgrade your edition to either the Premier or the Home & Business edition, depending on the type of tax data that you were entering.  This is a recommendation Only, it is NOT a requirement.

All the TurboTax desktop editions include the same forms, schedules and worksheets.  The higher editions only give more help and guidance.

You say that you already paid for Deluxe---but you do not say if you paid for desktop download or if you paid for online software; we see a lot of users who purchase the download but then inadvertently use online instead, and they are very upset when it wants them to pay for online.   Please look and see if your tool bar is on the top of your screen or if it is on the left side of your screen.

 

Online software has the toolbar in a black vertical column on the left side of the screen.   Desktop software has the tools up on the top of your TT screen.

 

 

 

 If you are using online Deluxe, there are certain kinds of income or forms that are not supported by online Deluxe; if you are entering information that is not supported by Deluxe you will be prompted to upgrade to Premium.  A few examples of information that would require you to upgrade would be self-employment income, rental income, certain kinds of investment income....

 

 

Or is it trying to upsell extra  "add -on" features that you do not want?

If your TurboTax fees are higher than expected, you can reduce them by removing add-ons     (BEFORE you e-file) :
