E-file "Failed-Validation"

As a follow up to my post an hour ago, I did go ahead and uninstall/reinstall TurboTax 2022 Home & Business from the CD.  It was painless... it didn't even ask me for the registration code again.

I opened the existing 2022 return (it found it immediately by itself), and went straight to FILE.  It remembered all of the info from before, including drivers license, etc, and the fact that I'd already paid for eFile, and the Alabama state return went through successfully on the first eFile attempt!

The cause of the error is still a mystery, but it's RESOLVED now!

I'm getting a failed_validation. There is an update available.  I have updated and I continue to get the same message.

Try restarting your computer after updating.

Save your tax return and close the TurboTax program.  Then re-start your computer.  After re-start open the TurboTax program, continue your tax return and see if the problem persists.

If it does then uninstall the TurboTax program and re-install.

Note -Uninstalling TurboTax does not delete the tax data file for your tax return.

E-file "Failed-Validation"

Hi,

I read the entire three pages and followed every way that I thought was viable. Like,
1) manual update (omitting links here)

2) install TurboTax on a different Windows computer

3) uninstall and reinstall TurboTax on the original Windows computer

After numerous attempts I was finally able to get the Federal file transmitted. The state of Georgia one continued to be in FAILED_VALIDATION. I am in my extension period getting desperate... Intuit really failed me, a long time TurboTax user.

Here's a more recent discussion on that issue...might be better to follow that even though there is no fix yet:

Re: Turbo Tax Deluxe 2022 - Failed Validation for state E-file (intuit.com)

________

In The Meantime:

As far as I can tell...The problem seemed to start up after the 29 June Software update.

Software updates occur on either Wed or Thursday evenings.

Thus...Try a software update on each Friday morning for the next 2 or 3 weeks, and try again.

________

Yeah...you are not the only one, but the issue seems to be limited to GA, so far.

If you are getting a GA refund, shouldn't be a problem to wait a couple weeks to see if TTX gets a fix enacted.

BUT

If you owe GA, it's up to you if you want to wait longer, or just change to print and file by mail.  Penalties and interest may accrue in that situation....how much, depends on how much you actually owe.

I'm also having this issue with the GA state return

@tj_taxx  could you go to this forum that @SteamTrain suggested, Re: Turbo Tax Deluxe 2022 - Failed Validation for state E-file (intuit.com)? We need to report en masse and force Intuit Turbotax to act quickly.

I tried Uninstalling and reinstalling the software but it didn't work. Please let me know how to resolve this issue because I paid for the software and it appears to be a software issue. Very frustrating when you get reach out to a live person by phone.

Received notice from the TurboTax Moderators that the update on Friday 07/14/2023 should have fixed this issue.

Check your Installed Updates - Click on Online at the top of the desktop program screen.  Click on View Installed Updates.  In the update list check to see if the 07/14/2023 update was installed.  If not installed then click on Check for Updates in the Online menu

If it was installed and you are still having the problem of not being able to e-file the Georgia state tax return due to the Failed Validation error then you need to send a diagnostic file to TurboTax for investigation.

Click on Online and then click on Send Tax File to Agent

When the Tax File is created and sent you will get a diagnostic file number.

Post the file number on this thread to the TurboTax Moderator @ErickaY
