Hello,

My Turbo Tax question is:

trubo tax is unable to file my return electronically  because under federal shows "wages or withholding from American Samoa, Guam, U.S Virgin Island or the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands. places I have never been"

could this be fraud?

Yes, that is a possibility.

I recommend that you contact Turbo Tax directly so that an agent can take a look at your tax return and see exactly what you are seeing.  Here is a link to the contact information:  Turbo Tax Help.

If you think someone may have filed a tax return using your name and Social Security number here is a link to an IRS Bulletin that provides additional information and some recommended steps;  IRS Bulletin Regarding Identify Theft

The IRS uses your prior year AGI to combat fraud.

You can find your 2018 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) by:

  • Looking at line 7 on page 2 of your 2018 Form 1040; or
  • You can request a transcript of your 2018 tax return from the IRS to ensure you have the right number. You can request your transcript online at the following link: Get Transcript

Check these items as well to ensure you have the correct number.  If you:

  • Filed late last year after mid-November or your return was processed after that time—try entering 0.
  • Amended your return last year—make sure you’re using the AGI from your original return, not the amended one. (If you only have a 1040X form, it’s on line 1, column A).
  • Rounded your AGI to the nearest dollar—be sure to round up when it’s 50 cents or more and down when it’s 49 cents or less.
  • Filed with your spouse last year—you and your spouse have the same 2018 AGI. (Don’t split the AGI amount or enter 0 for one of you).

Unfortunately, without the correct number or a match to the IRS system, your only option would be to print and mail in your return.

This article will give you instruction on how to print and mail your return.

I have a support ID# [social security number removed] but can't get through to anyone.  Please call me at [phone number removed]

Mary Lee Hamilton

I was trying to get you to resend my 2018 taxes which IRS says they didn't received.

It apparently signed me in as a new member and billed my CC $160.

Please cancel that.  I will send them my copy myself.  I don't want to do any more business with you.

Is there anyone who can help me correct the EIN number by phone.

If I file by mail I'd have to pay by debit or credit card instead of having the fee deducted from my return.

So I really do need to fix this online.

Can you help me please.

I have done everything I know to do. I cannot get back to the EIN info to change it. I thought I did but the message is still saying rejected due to incorrect EIN.

My email is [email address removed]

[phone number removed]

Thank you

This rejection can occur if you mistyped your employer's name or EIN when you manually entered your W-2. It can also happen if your W-2 is incorrect or if your employer's info in the IRS database is wrong.

Here's what to do:

  1. Sign in to your account and select Fix my return.
  2. At the Welcome back to TurboTax message, select Fix it now.
  3. Follow the instructions to fix the error. The employer name and EIN in TurboTax must exactly match the information in boxes b and c on your W-2 form.
  4. When finished, follow the rest of the instructions to re-file your return.

Please click the TurboTax Help links, listed below, to learn what more you can do to correct your EIN.
