I am 80 yrs old and married an 80 yr old French Canadian.   We live on our SS plus required IRS withdrawal.  We think she had to file Canadian but don’t know if she must do return here.   Also she puts $2000.00 in my account monthly to help with splitting expenses.   This is not income is it?  How do we best file?  Separate or together.  Do I need an outside Tax person due to lack of Turbo Tax forms.
You answers se appreciated.

No one can call you from the user forum.  And please do not try to post your phone number  or email here.

This is a public web site that can be seen by anyone—including scammers and would-be identity thieves who would love to contact you and pretend to be from TurboTax.

As for your 2019 tax refund:

There are a lot of delays for 2019  federal refunds.  Did you mail your return or e-file?

If you mailed it:

MAILED RETURNS

The IRS has just started to work through millions of mailed returns that have been piling up in trailers during the pandemic.  All you can do is watch the IRS refund site to see when your return makes it to the surface and goes into processing. Sorry.

Per the IRS website IRS Operations During COVID-19: Mission-critical functions continue:

IRS operational status and alternatives

Processing Delays for Paper Tax Returns: Taxpayers should file electronically through their tax preparer, tax software provider, or IRS Free File

We’re experiencing delays in processing paper tax returns due to limited staffing. If you already filed a paper return, we will process it in the order we received it.

Do not file a second tax return or contact the IRS about the status of your return.

If  you mail a tax return (or a payment) to the IRS, it is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it like UPS or certified mail so you will know it was received.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.

TurboTax will not know anything about your mailed return, and will continue to show “Ready to Mail” on your account.  TurboTax will not know that you put your tax return in an envelope and took it to a mailbox.  TurboTax does not get updates on mailed  (or e-filed) returns.

When the IRS finally opens its mail and begins to process mailed returns you can check the status on the IRS site. https://www.irs.gov/refunds

State returns have to be mailed to the state.

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund

Or......

Did you e-file?  Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

If the IRS accepted it, what does it say here?

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

Or does your account say “Ready to Mail?”

Note: If it says “Ready to Mail” or “Printed” that means YOU have to mail it yourself.  TurboTax does not mail your tax return for you.

If your e-file was accepted:

To check on regular tax refund status via automated phone, call 800-829-1954. (This line has no information on Economic Impact Payments.)

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  Many refunds are taking longer during the pandemic.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

To track your state refund:

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1901548-why-do-some-refunds-take-longer-than-others

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

To call the IRS:IRS:  800-829-1040  hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Mon-Fri

Listen to each menu before making the selection.

First choose your language. Press 1 for English.

Then do NOT choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.

Instead, press 2 for "personal income tax".

Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".

Then press 3 "for all other questions."

Then press 2 "for all other questions."  It should then transfer you to an agent.

My return was rejected twice stating I entered the incorrect AGI from 2019.  I double checked it and had my return next to me so I am 100% cure it was correct.  After a 55 minute hold I spent another 15 minutes with someone who told me TurboTax been having a lot of issues with this was and he saw an email that said it was expected to be fixed by the 19th, but apparently they were still working on it and hoped to have it fixed soon.

He said he would transfer me to a supervisor who could explain more.   After holding a few more minutes a male supervisor came on and when I started to tell him my story he said hold on, backup, there was not a problem with TurboTax and I reiterated that was his person who told me that.  He said just change it to zero and if it was rejected again I should print it and mail it.  I noted than I paid so I could filed electronically to which he told me that's not what I paid for; that  I paid for the forms.    He was very rude in his tone and attitude.  I could have downloaded the forms myself and saved money and headaches.   Not to mention what I thought would be the benefit of electronic filing.    This makes me feel as though you are looking for immediate income and not concerned with long term customers.  At this moment I am feeling very unhappy with my decision to purchase TurboTax.

I need to speak to someone about taking money out of my account before I receive my takes it’s not there and isn’t going To be there until irs releases them to me.

Did you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund?  Is your refund taking an unusually long time to arrive?  Or was your refund seized to pay a debt you owed? if so, you signed an agreement that says TT can withdraw its fees from your account.  TurboTax would have sent several emails to you before they took the money out of your account.

If you filed within TurboTax, you can do the following to check the electronic filing status to determine what returns were transmitted and get an update on the e-file status.
