Tax Year Prior to 2020: Am I eligible for stimulus package check from IRS?

@jaxson0307

Your 2018 tax return shows your 2018 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) If you filed a joint return then the AGI is the same for each of you.

Form 1040        line 7

If you are using the same TT account that you used last year, you should also be able to find this number in your Tax Home for 2018

If entering the amount from your 2018 tax return does not work, then try entering “0” instead.  If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.

You can get a free transcript of your past return from the IRS:

https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

Note: If you filed late or amended your return, your correct 2018 AGI may not be in the system.

Note:  If you mail your federal return, you will also need to mail your state return.  You will not be able to e-file your state return.

it is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it like UPS or certified mail.  Then you will know the IRS received it.

If you used the wrong AGI, your e-file  be rejected.  When you get the rejection notice, correct it and re-file.

Tax Year Prior to 2020: Am I eligible for stimulus package check from IRS?

Looking for answers for a stimulus check.  I have filed 2020 taxes and the non-filers to see if I could be eligible.  Me and my sister live together and she got her check a few months ago.  So please respond to this message so I can have some calm about this subject.  Thank you, Ginger Gsell

@GYG Not sure what you mean by "I have filed 2020 taxes..."  No one has filed a 2020 tax return, nor will anyone file a 2020 ta return until the year is over.  2020 tax returns will be prepared and filed in 2021.  If you filed a 2019 tax return you cannot turn around and try to use the non-filer site.  If you filed a tax return you are NOT a "non-filer."

The IRS can look at your 2018 or 2019 return to issue a stimulus check.  If they do not have a 2018 return then you may be waiting for them to finish processing 2019 before they will be able to use it to issue your stimulus check.

TurboTax has no control over your stimulus check, nor can TT track it for you or tell you when the IRS will issue it. Refer to the sites linked below:

You can call the IRS hotline at 1-800-919-9835 to get updates on your stimulus payment.

Why did I only receive 700 when I am head of household?

TurboTax would have no way to know why you received a certain amount of Economic Impact Payment.

For more information on your Economic Impact Payment, please visit IRS.gov.coronavirus or call 800-919-9835

@Har59 No one at TurboTax knows why you received that amount for a stimulus check--if in fact that is what the check was for.  TurboTax has no control over your stimulus  check and cannot look into it for you.  If you made over a certain income your stimulus check could be reduced, so that is a possible reason

i did file 2018 and 2019 tax return.  I did do a withdraw from my tsp retirement fund to pay medical bills.  Does that count against the money for stimulus package.

@Marcy Kurtz  We cannot tell you if you are eligible for a stimulus check. We cannot see any of your information at all.

The IRS can look at your 2018 or 2019 return to issue a stimulus check.  If they do not have a 2018 return then you may be waiting for them to finish processing 2019 before they will be able to use it to issue your stimulus check.
