2022 Turbotax Form 8915F-T - Cannot e-file

So I have been checking a couple of times a week to see when Form 8915F-T will be available in the 2022 desktop version.  The software has consistently been saying that this form will be available to file by mail and e-file on 02/16/2023.  All good.

Today the software says available to file by mail on 02/16/2023, but now says "Cannot e-file."  This form and it's variants were able to be e-filed in TY 2021 and TY 2020.

Does anyone know more about this?  Will we be unable to e-file for TY 2022 if we need to use this form?

Bump on this.  I have been waiting on this form as well and just noticed today that it says "Cannot E-file".

It previously said I would be able to e-file on 2/16/2023.

Does anyone have additional information on this?

Just wait for it to be available.

Go to this TurboTax website for federal and state forms availability - https://form-status.app.intuit.com/tax-forms-availability/formsavailability?albRedirect=true&product...

Well that doesn't really answer my question.  Will it be available for e-file? how do you know it is a typo?

I didn't ask about the table on the website.  I asked about why, in the software itself, it previously said it that it be available for e-file on 02/16/2023 and now it says that form 8915F-T will only be able to be filed by mail.

I think your response just confuse the issue, has little credibility, and might lead someone to think that the question was answered when it was not.

"Just wait."  Why? until when? based on what information?

hello, that form needs to be filed e-filled, I've done it since 2020.  Will it or will it not?

Now it says to me this form is available to file on 2/23/2023. When it has been stated 2/16/23. It still says I can't e-file either!

While I am disappointed  about the date being pushed back, that has happened with this form in the past, if I remember correctly this form it wasn't available until 03/14/2022 last year.  If it's pushed back you can thank the IRS and not TurboTax, it just means the IRS is taking longer to certify Intuit as far as the validity of it's generation of the form.

My real concern is about the changes in the software stating that Form 8915F-T won't be able to be e-filed.  And my annoyance is with Intuit for not stepping into this thread and giving an answer with as much information as currently available.

Agreed MER, and disappointed that they marked this question as solved.  Also, why does the IRS form page say that the 8915-F (spouse) Will be able to be e-filed, but the other 8915-F listed wont? It would be nice to actually here from someone from Intuit on this.

Now the date has been pushed back into March. Does anyone know how to seek a refund from TurboTax for their defective product?

This is a solution for all of you to try that is suggested by DanaB127 in her turbo tax post.

     Open your TurboTax Account/product

    1. Go to  Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA  401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals
    2. Enter your 1099R
    3. If you do not have any 2022 1099-R answer "No" to "Did you get a 1099-R in 2022?" (If you have any other 1099-R then enter all 1099-R and after entering your last 1099-R click "Continue" on the “Review your 1099-R info” screen)
    4. Answer "Yes" to the "Have you ever taken a disaster distribution before 2022?" screen
    5. Answer "Yes" to "Did you take a 2020 Qualified Disaster Distribution?"
    6. Uncheck the box next to "If this was a Coronavirus-related distribution reported in 2020 check here" and click continue
    7. On the "Which disaster affected you in 2020?" screen I selected the blank entry and click "back
    8. Then recheck the box next to "If this was a Coronavirus-related distribution reported in 2020 check here" and continue.

Another option is to delete "Form 8915-F" and "Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distr" and then go back to the retirement section and reenter the information:

    1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
    2.  If in Turbo Tax online, select "Tax Tools" and then "Tools".
    3. In the pop-up window Tool Center, select "Delete a form".
    4. Select "Delete" next to "Form 8915-F" and "Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distr
    5.  If using software, go to the forms mode, select Form 8915-F and select delete form at the bottom
    6.  Now go to Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA  401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals and enter your 1099R.
    7. If you do not have any 2022 1099-R answer "No" to "Did you get a 1099-R in 2022?" (If you have any other 1099-R then enter all 1099-R and after entering your last 1099-R click "Continue" on the “Review your 1099-R info” screen)
    8. Answer "Yes" to the "Have you ever taken a disaster distribution before 2022?" screen
    9. Answer "Yes" to "Did you take a 2020 Qualified Disaster Distribution?"
    10. Check the box next to "If this was a Coronavirus-related distribution reported in 2020 check here" and enter your information.

In answer to Amers100 question, no you will not need to pay for the product again if you clear and start over.`Try this solution first however to see if this works

YESSS, your option 2 suggestion to go to Tax Tools/Tools/Delete a form worked like a charm.  I just was finally able to successfully submit my return and have it finally ACCEPTED instead of just rejected immediately!!!  I chose to delete form "Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distribution", once this was done it apparently it automatically deleted my form 8915F-T as well.  From here I was able to go back to Federal/Income/401K retirement 1099-R, then answer the questions about if I had Disaster Retirement Distribution accordingly.

Yeah, this makes me mad. I’m using the version on my phone to get a discount thru Lyft since I’m a Lyft driver. I paid when I was finished filling everything out ….then they tell me I can’t even file until March 2 and from y’all have been saying, that date may not really be very accurate. If I had known that, I would not have paid yet. I would have looked at other companies. Sounds like this issue is with desktop version and mobil app - well at least that part makes sense. Dang it.
I used TaxAct for several years then switched to TurboTax last year. I wonder if TaxAct is having this same issue.   Last year I filed my taxes late so I did not run into this issue.  This year I got my taxes ready to submit early. I will be doing more research next year before choosing TurboTax.  Pretty disappointing.

Every year there is an issue or 2 that delay things for some folks and all you can do is be patient while the wrinkles are worked out.

I have the same ISSUE for 2023:

Well 2023 taxes are not done until 2024. So if you are doing taxes now, you are doing your 2022 tax return.

Does anyone know if any other online services are ready to file. This is ridiculous. I am done with Turbotax

Yes FREETAXUSA is ready.   I jumped ship this morning and went there.   My federal and state have already been accepted.   It only cost me $14.99 for both.    I should not have waited this long with TT.   They will not refund my money.

There was an update today but it was not for Form 8915F.  Now my turbotax says it will be available 3/02/23!  They keep pushing it back a week.

Good Evening All, I too am seeing the same message.

This date has shifted twice for me, and I'm anticipating the shift again closer to 3/2.  Please advise - the purpose to file early was to ensure I was able to e-file. But I am unable to due to this below.  Anyone have luck speaking with a representative on your specific user case?

    Level 2
    February 23, 2023

You won't have any luck speaking to a representative.   You have two options: Either wait it out with TurboTax or e-file your taxes elsewhere.   I filed with FreeTaxUSA.  It took me twenty minutes, and within a half hour my state and federal were accepted.   Please note that if you paid TurboTax already, you will not get a refund if you decide to file elsewhere.   I explain this in another post.

They have to refund if you didn’t file with them.
