I've already paid for TT Online federal and two states.
1. What additional fees are there for converting to Desktop such as state efiling fees etc?
2. Can I go back to the online platform if I have problems with Desktop or is it a one way trip?

Switching from online to desktop is indeed a "one-way trip."
When you use desktop software there will be a $25 state e-file fee for each state return that you e-file. You can avoid the state e-file fee by printing and mailing the state. Or...if you decide to pay the $25 state e-file fee, do NOT choose to pay that $25 from a federal refund or it will add a $40 refund processing fee to your cost--be careful of that.

If you already paid for the Online version you can try calling and asking to switch to the Desktop program. They may put the Desktop download in your account. Don't know if they will include the second state. A second state program is $45 in addition to any state efile fees.
See Desktop programs here. By the way all desktop programs have the same forms so you could use a lower version. https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/
Well you could go back to the Online version by continuing the online return you have now. You wouldn't be able to upload the desktop return to online.
Desktop has many features and advantages over the Online version. You can do more than 1 return. You can see and enter into the actual forms. It has a What-If worksheet. And you can use a lower version because all the Desktop versions have ALL the same forms. You just get more help in the higher versions. In online you have to upgrade to enter certain kinds of income. Like Premium for investments.
And the Desktop program is always available even after the year ends. Which is good if you ever need to amend your return after online website is closed or get audited and need your tax records.

Thanks for the info.
My sad story is there are TT softwarebugs in BOTH the MA and NC part year TT programs. Per TT policy, I cannot get a refund for ONLINE TT UNLESS I proved the desktop program would not have solved the problem.
Seems like WAY too much effort to switch now to Desktop, especially since I don't want to pay $50 to efile sate returns. So essentially I'm stuck having paid $80 for two useless state returns. I ran the solftware using OLT.com and got correct returns for both MA and NC. So I guess I will efile the federal from TT and mail both state returns using alternate software.
I'm dissapointed with TT this year.
Wait, I thought you could still ammend your return in TT after completing the ONLINE progam after tax season ended?!?
