Switching from online to desktop is indeed a "one-way trip."   

 

When you use desktop software there will be a $25 state e-file fee for each state return that you e-file.   You can avoid the state e-file fee by printing and mailing the state.   Or...if you decide to pay the $25 state e-file fee, do NOT choose to pay that $25 from a federal refund or it will add a $40 refund processing fee to your cost--be careful of that.
