Banking information for refund is wrong
If you entered incorrect banking information for your refund, you can change it if your return is rejected. If it is accepted, however, it is too late to change it. The bank will reject the refund and send it back to the IRS. Then the IRS will issue a paper check and mail it to the address you put on your tax return.

A couple years ago in 2016 my return was rejected by my bank. I called the IRS and was told I had to wait 3 weeks to get it back so i waited.. Then I calles the IRS and was tols then that I had to tall to turbo tax because they were the 3rd party so they had to return it. I wasnforwarded to another office called something else.. Not turbo tax. They told me that they recieved it back just days after it was rejected and then over nigted it to me. So i think this is incorrect info.
You must have chosen to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund AND gave a wrong account number for your direct deposit. In your situation, the refund would have been handled by the third party bank, Santa Barbara Tax Products Group. The refund bounced back to them when your bank rejected it, and then they sent it to you.
How do you know your bank rejected your refund. Was it first deposited into your account or they sent you mail concerning the rejection.
@Spanky777 You are commenting on an old thread. Has your refund been rejected or is there anything else we can assist you with?
It’s over 27 days now I haven’t received my refund, On Current bank.
@Spanky777 21 days was not a promise or guarantee. Only the IRS controls when your refund is issued.
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

We chose to have our filing fees deducted from our taxes and our bank rejected the deposit today. Is there a number to call to update the deposit for the 3rd party bank to resend the deposit

For the status of your tax refund you will need to contact the third party processor, Santa Barbara Tax Product Group, using their website - https://www.sbtpg.com/

I too experienced the same issue with my bank rejecting my refund, so I called the IRS and explained to the representative my situation and asked if she could update my bank info, she told me that they don't update bank info and that my check will be mailed.
This happened to me too. The bank rejected the deposit because my last name doesnt match my husband's on our account. Did she say how long it would take to receive the paper check? A TurboTax specialist I spoke with said it would be issued and mailed within 10 days of the IRS receiving the deposit back. Another site said 4-6 weeks, someone else said up to 90 days. I just want to know how long we'll have to wait for our refund.
The IRS does not list a specific time frame for mailing paper checks after the bank rejects the deposit. For more information, please see this IRS FAQ for more information.
I understand that , but a TurboTax specialist I spoke with, said the IRS receives the deposit back within 5 business days and issued a refund check to be mailed out within 10 business days. Which is why I was asking. I know someone personally who had the same problem, received their paper check 4 days after their direct deposit was rejected
How long does it take for a bank to reject a refund and send it back to the irs
