If your refund went to a wrong or closed account and was sent back to the IRS you can expect a delay of at least three weeks--maybe longer.

I put down my sister’s bank info and I’m assuming it was rejected because I should have received it the 24th. How long will it take receive a paper check?

@Missmarissss1328 Going forward -- do not try to use someone else's bank account for your tax refund.   When the bank rejects it, it goes back to the IRS.   The very backlogged IRS will now issue a paper check and mail it to you.   Expect that to take at least three weeks or maybe longer.

I didn't give the wrong routing or account number my bank rejected it because I have a prepaid debit card and the amount was too much will they send me a paper check

@Veronica Ruell  Yes. Per IRS Direct Deposit Limits, you should receive a paper refund check in approximately four weeks if there are no other issues with the return.

My tax refund was sent to my bank. I called to see and it said that it was deposited. However there was nothing in my account. Talked to a representative at my bank and they said they rejected the deposit because of the amount. What happens next?
