I bought the Home & Business from Costco too. It is still the same old Desktop program you used before. It just the method you use to install it, by download instead of CD. Because most computers don’t have CD drives anymore. Didn’t the package come with the License Code and instructions for how to install it?
If you are using the TurboTax Home & Business desktop edition installed on your personal computer, you only need to click on the File menu in the top left of the desktop program screen. Then click on New Tax Return.
Why did you purchase two licenses? The software you already purchased can be used to prepare and e-file up to five federal returns and the state returns that go with them. A second license is not needed. And buying a 2nd license does not give you five more e-files. Five e-files is an IRS limit. If you have more than five returns to file the extra ones can be filed by mail. Seek a refund for the second license.

You seem to be in the Online version. The License Code is for the Desktop program. Did you download and install the Desktop program? You only needed 1 program and 1 License Code. The Desktop program can do multiple returns.

I am very confused by this, there is no longer any desktop that is why i was forced to buy 2 of the 'online version
with no disc".
I would have much rather go back to desktop so I could do more than 1.
The answer does not make sense to me in light of these facts.
I need to know how to add the second one so I can do 2 returns, for myself and my daughter.

@Bonnied1 Then you will need to create a new online account with a new User ID for the second tax return.
Go to this TurboTax website and click on Sign up to start a new account - https://turbotax.intuit.com/
Oh my this detail was not even addressed. I have been using my original Intuit sign in and password,
So you are saying I have to re-create an entirely different account.
Wow. They really want to make this harder not easier.

I do not know how this applies to 2024, there is no longer an option to do more than one return.
That was only for the old desktop.
Why do I get advise that does not apply to the current situation.
Oh How much easier it would be to go back in history when there were discs and you could do more than
one and you did not even have to do Quickbooks online???
@Bonnied1 Why do not you just download the TurboTax desktop edition to your computer for tax year 2024. That is no different than using a CD. The CD has just the beta version of the software and after installing from the CD you need to update the software by downloading the latest release.
None of this makes any sense. Volvo is also telling me there is a phantom out there somewhere that is still a desktop version of Home and Business, well if that is true, they sure did not sell it in stores. It is a little late now to go back and do this a different way.
I have already spent $200 on the 2 online versions with the license keys.
Now I have 4 days to buy more and do it all over again? How does that even make sense???
Does anyone else think that there are still phantom Desktop versions with discs?

Yes the whole thing is coming clear now.
I was thinking because it was no disc that it was a form of online version.
I have already started the 2nd return and realize now i did not have to buy two.
I already opened the key license pocket, so I'm not sure if Costco will return it.
I have not downloaded the license, but there would be no way to prove that.

Thanks to all for the help,
I was all mixed up about the Desktop and Online.
I understand now,
thanks for letting me know all of your answers
and that an old dog can learn new tricks without a "Disc" LOL
It took me a while to catch on so thanks for all the patience!!
Great you sound ok now. Sorry we got off tract talking about the “Online version”. Glad to know you had installed the program and didn’t accidentally end up in the Online version. That happens to a lot of people so we are used to people getting confused.
By the way, you can still buy a CD directly from Turbo Tax for $10 after you buy the License Code from Costco.
I bought my Home & Business from Costco but bought it from Costco online and not in the store. Then Costco emails you the License Code.
