The license code is NOT for using online TurboTax. If you want to use the license use it for the desktop software you paid for----not an online account for which you are entering a user ID. if you start in the online program you will end up having to switch the data to desktop or it will want to charge you again for online.

Download the desktop software, update it and use it from your own hard drive.
Did you already start an Online return?
You can move your Online file to the Desktop program and continue without paying for Online or needing to reenter your info.

After you get the program installed the first thing to do before you open your tax return .tax file is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW).
It says you cannot update your license number if you are using Turbo Tax online. I AM NOT USING IT ONLINE IT IS ON MY COMPUTER. This is the worst help!
