The stimulus payment will go to the account you entered for direct deposit on the 2019 tax return. The direct deposit information cannot be changed. If the account is closed the IRS will send the payment by mail or on a debit card.

TurboTax has NO control over your stimulus check, nor can TT track it or tell you when you will receive it. The IRS will use the same banking information for the 2nd stimulus that they used for the first one. If that account (or card) is closed then the stimulus will go back to the IRS and they will mail you a check.

The stimulus checks are an advance on a credit you can receive on your 2020 tax return. If something went wrong or you did not get the correct amount of both stimulus payments by 1/27/2021 then you can get it when you file your 2020 return in early 2021—if you are eligible. It will end up on line 30 of your 2020 Form 1040.

At this point, we do not know yet how long the new stimulus bill will delay the filing season due to changes to the 2020 Form 1040, software programming, software updates, etc., etc. Do NOT be in a hurry to file your 2020 tax return until more is known. Give some extra time to the IRS and the software programmers so that the software can handle the new 2nd stimulus, so that you can get it all by filing ONE time.

Have tried for 2 hours to talk to some one. Have really just gave up. I will not use this program again. The worst customer service that I have ever received. They were sweet enough to call me with a automated message telling me this was the last time they would call. Still no person. I would suggest to use anyone besides turbo tax. Customer service is no existing.
