Can i efile my 2019 1040-x amended form? it is rejecting today's date to efile

No.   E-filing has been closed since October and does not open again until February 12, when the IRS will begin to accept/reject 2020 returns.   If you want to file your amended return now, send it in the mail.   It will take 4-6 months for the IRS to process it--so do not expect quick results.

Thank you, will they reopen Federal e-file 1040-X in the future for prior year returns?  I'm ok to wait if it'll be available sometime.

It is not known if TurboTax will have the capability to e-file prior year tax returns using the personal tax preparation software.

It's after February 12.  The software continues to reject any date after 12/31/2020.

Why is it being rejected? For errors, you can correct them and submit them again.

When filing the amended return you're asked for the date.  Any date beyond 12/31/2020 is invalid.  TurboTax is preventing the process.  The IRS isn't rejecting the amended return.

The option to amend returns on TurboTax will not be available until 03/25/2021. Please check How do I amend a prior-year state return? to learn more.

The article you reference says we can e-file our amended returns.  It doesn't mention 3/25/2021.

@aufderha3 The 1040X form will be available for filing on 3/25/2021. At that time, you can then follow the instructions in this FAQ here to amend your 2020 tax return. You can check the IRS forms availability here.

The information you provided is for tax year 2020.  We're all talking about amending our 2019 returns.  The 1040-X is available and we can print it.  We can not e-file though since the TurboTax software won't accept dates for signing the amended return past 12/31/2020.

Yes, there is a confusion. You can amend your 2019 return, but you cannot e-file it now.
