Ok. The state return requires a copy of the federal be submitted along with it. Did you have any issues or concerns that we can assist you with?
I am using TT home and business. I am in CT. I just e-filed my federal return, and I want to mail my CT state return (after spending 30 minutes unsuccessfully trying to get out of paying the $25 refund guarantee on top of the $25 state e-file fee). When I go to file my state return I am only given two choices - e-file or e-file later. When I select "later" and click continue I am told to go back and make another choice. I need instructions for filing my CT state returns by mail. That simple. Can you help.
(just an fyi that you and everyone at TT already knows- Every year you manage to get many of your loyal customers mad at you at the very end of their difficult and often trying tax preparation. We are a pretty captive audience and I am sure management has figured out that this is a cost they can live with for the extra revenue extracted. I sure hope it comes back to bite- TT deserves it.)
Select All official forms for filing in the final step from the Print Center to download and print. The Print Center is in the top right corner of TurboTax CD/Download.
First, do the all official forms. Then, do the Forms for your records with all the worksheets as shown in the screenshot below. The federal return should be included with the Connecticut mailing.
For more details, see: How do I print a copy of my return filed in the TurboTax CD/Download software?

Can I file my fed return electronically and print and mail my state return, if so is there a cost to file my state return? How is this done?
Yes, you can Efile your Federal Return and mail in your State Return later.
There is no fee for filing your State Return if you mail it.
Click this link for details on two ways to Efile Federal and Mail State Later.
@Jim37867 Are you using the CD/download? If so you can save the state e-file fee by printing and mailing your state return instead of e-filing it. If you are using online TurboTax the fee is the same for using the state software whether you e-file the state or mail it. With online, you do not save anything by mailing the state return---the fee is for using the software.
I would like to talk to a specialist versus chat if you cannot solve my problem I accidentally downloaded online turbo tax (premier) versus desktop premier) and when I entered my card information I did not know the total cost. After entering it it showed 39.0 for efiling state.
My question: I do not want the online version but the desktop that I have used for over 20 years. Sorry that I accidentally selected the wrong app. Can I download desktop and the money I paid be applied to the cost of desktop versus online. Please call me at [phone number removed] or give me a customer support specialist's number I may call

You will have to contact TurboTax support for this billing issue.
See this TurboTax support FAQ for contacting support - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/what-is-the-turbotax-phone-number/00/25632
The same happened to me. I file federal and the state option does not include mail.
Have you already e-filed both your federal and state return?
Third year I have dealt w/ this Turbo Tax/ Intuit nightmare.
Fed Tax filed & accepted but cannot file the State.
What the heck is going on???
May I ask are you receiving any kind of error messages when trying to file your state return? Also, what state is it you are trying to e-file?
Thank you for the answer. This is a stupid issue with TurboTax. If you already e-filed your Fed Return, you have to go back to FILE beginning and check off File by Mail, hit Continue, then check the "Print my state return to file by mail now" and the "Do not print my federal return to file by mail now".
Yes, I agree. I e-filed my Federal return and the completed the PA State return but there was no option to e-file the State without again filing the FED. Odd glitch that they should have seen.
However, from what I have read on this page, it sounds as though I will be able to e-file the State AFTER the FED accepts my 1040. We shall see. Still, the software should have indicated that.
