Stimulus checks

Turbo tax system form insists that we received 3 stimulus checks. We did NOT! We checked our bank statements and have kept the TWO (that is, 2!) Department of Treasury letters (Jan & Feb dates). I entered YES because I am annoyed and just wanted to be done. However, before I hit send, can you explain why your system insists that we received 3?

Not sure what you are seeing that makes you think the system is insisting that you received the 3rd EIP payment. You are ASKED in the Federal Review section for the recovery rebate credit if you received the 3rd EIP payment. People who received those payments also got letter 6475 for the stimulus payments. If you know that you did not receive the payment of $1400 per person that went out sometime after mid-March of 2021, then you can say no that you did not receive it. Then it will end up on line 30 of your Form 1040 so that you get it as part of your refund.

It's asking if you received the THIRD Stimulus payment. Not 3 payments. You don't enter anything about the first 2 checks on your 2021 tax return. It should ask if you got 2,800 for the 3rd Stimulus payment. If not you say NO.

The 3rd Stimulus payment was 1,400 per person sent out starting in March 2021. If you didn't get any of it you can get it on your tax return line 30 for the Recovery Rebate Credit. But first double check your bank account to make sure you didn't get it.

Oh you both got letter 6475 saying you got it? If the IRS thinks they sent it to you but you didn't get it request a trace for a missing third Stimulus payment
