I paid for extra money for help if there are issues. The state will not pay me my refund. They want proof. I don't have any paperwork because of flood damage. What now?

The state said they won't send me my refund. I paid turbo tax hundreds of dollars to deal with any issues. Why can't I get help?

Proof of what?  Without detailed information no one on this forum can assist you.

It sounds like you misunderstood what you paid for.  TurboTax does not get any information from the IRS or the state after you file your tax return.  TurboTax cannot and does not intercede with the IRS or the state after you file your tax return. TT cannot speed up or help you get your refund from the IRS or the state.   Once you file your tax return, it is a matter between you and the IRS or state.  TurboTax only has the information that you yourself entered  into a  software program; TT does not and cannot cross check that information, so TT cannot provide any sort of "proof" as to the accuracy of the information you entered.

TurboTax does not receive copies of any sort of letters or messages you receive from the IRS or state, so no one at TurboTax knows what your state wants from you, nor can TT provide it to the state.

Provide some details here.   Is your return under review by the state?  Or is the state requiring you to verify your identity? Did the state send you a letter that you do not understand?

I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE IRS/STATE

TurboTax does not receive any information from the IRS or your state after your return was filed, so no one at TurboTax knows about a letter you received from the IRS or the state.

(what the letters from the IRS mean)

AUDIT SUPPORT

TurboTax has a special phone number for help with IRS/state tax letters, which will be easier than going through regular Customer Support.   At the page below, click on the blue button that says "Get Help from TurboTax Support".  Then it will ask you what tax year is your letter.  Then it will ask you what the letter concerns. Then it will show you the phone number during posted business hours.

@lindemananthony  if your state payments were through withholding you can request duplicate w-2s from your employer or for a fee get complete copies from the Social Security adm. the IRS does not get state withholding data

https://faq.ssa.gov/en-us/Topic/article/KA-02501

if you made payments through a bank you can get copies of the statements to identify the payments and then get copies of the checks front and back. Even if you paid directly through the state's website there is identifying info on the bank statement which should allow the state to track down the payment.

if paid through a credit card there should be identifying info on the statements so you can request supporting info.
