We filed jointly and only my spouse received the IRS Letter 6419. It has been over a month and mine has not come. It is either lost in the mail or IRS did not send one for me. I call the -1800 number but only got an automated menu and elevator music. Should I just file my tax return without my IRS Letter 6419?

With or without letter 6419 you need to enter the correct amount of child tax credit advance payments the two of you received between July and December. If you enter the wrong amount it will delay your refund. So check your own bank records or check your online account with the IRS if you do not recall how much you received each month --- you must enter the total amount received.

If the amount shown on your spouse's 6419 letter is the Total amount of the advance child tax credit payments you received in 2021, then you do not need your letter. Just report the amount of the advance CTC received when asked in the TurboTax program.
Thank you for responding. I did log into the IRS account you posted and it reflects the same #1 and #2 on my spouse's Letter 6419. There is nothing for me. I am tempted to double the amount on #1 box on my spouse's Letter 6419 but it may be overkilled.
Right, I finally got a hold of an IRS person and they said the same thing, if I don't get my Letter 6419, total up what we received and it should be correct.
even if you did get a letter, why would you not total up what you (both) got ?
For instance, the IRS stopped your deposits if you filed a Form 1040-X.
The same is happening for me. I was ready to go with taxes in January, and this letter issue, both the 6419 and the 6475 has delayed me. I am going to check my bank statements because I have called the IRS twice, been hung up on once and was told call volume was too high and to try again. :(
I hope I don't have a letter out there circulating, as we just moved...though my husband's letter was sent to our new address...
You can access your information with an online account. Here is a link to the IRS site where you can set up an account and check your balances online.
Yes, we'll need to have 2 online accounts to add up because the IRS lady said each online account only has one person's amount. She said the best way is to go through the 10 payments on our bank statements.
Yes, you can file the tax return after verifying your bank account about the total payments received by you and your spouse.
If your spouse had received the letter 6419, it will be half of the total of Advance Child Tax Credit received by you.
I am helping my daughter with her taxes...per turbotax under "Tell us about any advance Child Tax Credits payments" section there is a link that says "What if I don't have Letter 6419" ... she did not receive a letter. So I clicked on this link which then recommends using the 6419 Letter to unsure you're entering the right amount. It says that you can use the IRS Child Tax Credit Update Portal, which we did, to obtain the total payment amount. BUT, then it has "STOP!!! If you're using the portal, check our FAQ before entering your info in TurboTax. There are different ways to enter your payment info depending on your situation".
I cannot find anything, maybe I am searching wrong, so any guidance is very much appreciated.
Thank you.

Do not use the Child Tax Credit Update Portal for tax filing information. To complete your 2021 tax return, use the information in your online account.
