Missing IRS Letter 6419

We filed jointly and only my spouse received the IRS Letter 6419.  It has been over a month and mine has not come.  It is either lost in the mail or IRS did not send one for me.  I call the -1800 number but only got an automated menu and elevator music.  Should I just file my tax return without my IRS Letter 6419?

With or without letter 6419 you need to enter the correct amount of child tax credit advance payments the two of you received between July and December.   If you enter the wrong amount it will delay your refund.   So check your own bank records or check your online account with the IRS if you do not recall how much you received each month --- you must enter the total amount received.

Right, I finally got a hold of an IRS person and they said the same thing, if I don't get my Letter 6419, total up what we received and it should be correct.

even if you did get a letter, why would you not total up what you (both) got ?

For instance, the IRS stopped your deposits if you filed a Form 1040-X.

The same is happening for me. I was ready to go with taxes in January, and this letter issue, both the 6419 and the 6475 has delayed me. I am going to check my bank statements because I have called the IRS twice, been hung up on once and was told call volume was too high and to try again. 😞

I hope I don't have a letter out there circulating, as we just moved...though my husband's letter was sent to our new address...

If the amount shown on your spouse's 6419 letter is the Total amount of the advance child tax credit payments you received in 2021, then you do not need your letter.  Just report the amount of the advance CTC received when asked in the TurboTax program.
