I turned the forms back for the 15111 CP 09 the same week I got it. I sent it from idaho on April 14th and it should of been received by April 18th. After filling out that form. I qualified and that is why I sent it back like I was instructed to. It said that I may be eligible for about 6 thousand dollars and some change. But I have not got any thing or heard anything about the form. How can i find an update
@jackjack2785 -- unfortuneately, the only thing to do is be patient. No one else who has posted that they filled out the forms has posted back that they have received the money due. The problem is the IRS is woefully backlogged. Have you checked the Where's My Refund tool or your transcript at the IRS website?
This is from the IRS website.
As of August 12, 2022, we had 9.3 million unprocessed individual returns received in calendar year 2022. These include tax year 2021 returns and late filed tax year 2020 and prior returns. Of these, 1.7 million returns require error correction or other special handling, and 7.6 million are paper returns waiting to be reviewed and processed. This work does not typically require us to correspond with taxpayers but does require special handling by an IRS employee so, in these instances, it is taking the IRS more than 21 days to issue any related refund and in some cases this work could take more than 120 days. If a correction is made to any Recovery Rebate Credit, Child Tax Credit, Earned Income Tax Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit claimed on the return, the IRS will send taxpayers an explanation. Taxpayers are encouraged to continue to check Tax Season Refund Frequently Asked Questions.
How long you may have to wait: The IRS understands the importance of timely processing of tax returns and refund issuance. We have processed all error free returns received prior to January 2022 and continue to work the returns that need to be manually reviewed due to errors. We are continuing to reroute tax returns and taxpayer correspondence from locations that are behind to locations where more staff is available, and we are taking other actions to minimize any delays. Tax returns are opened and processed in the order received. As the return is processed, whether it was filed electronically or on paper, it may be delayed because it has a mistake including errors concerning the Recovery Rebate Credit and the Child Tax Credit, is missing information, or there is suspected identity theft or fraud. If we can fix it without contacting you, we will. If we need more information or need you to verify that it was you who sent the tax return, we will write you a letter. The resolution of these issues could take more than 120 days depending on how quickly and accurately you respond, and the ability of IRS staff trained and working under social distancing requirements to complete the processing of your return.
What you should do: In most instances, no further action is needed but you may check Where’s My Refund? or you can view your account. If you filed electronically and received an acknowledgement, you do not need to take any further action other than promptly responding to any requests for information. If you filed on paper, check Where’s My Refund? If it tells you we have received your return or are processing or reviewing it, we are processing your return, but it may be under review. If you filed before January 2022 and Where’s My Refund? does not have any information, your return has been opened but work on it has not begun. We’re working hard to get through the carryover inventory. Please don’t file a second tax return or contact the IRS about the status of your return.
I still yet to received my other half of the Child Tax Credit. I refill out the form and sent it back in March and its September with no letter or response on the status of the CTC.
@btoledo12 Your"other half" of the child tax credit will be part of the refund for your 2021 tax return. It is shown on line 28 of your 2021 Form 1040. Do you mean you have not yet received your income tax refund?
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

OR——if you filed by mail, expect a long wait. It is taking the very backlogged IRS six to nine months to process mailed returns. Until a human opens your envelope and enters the data into the system, nothing will even show up on the refund site, so you will have to be very patient.
There was nothing entered on my line 28. I have not received my other half still.
i received my tax refund but i never got my other half of the CHILD Taxe Credit. I am still waiting.
I have been calling the IRS and not lines avaliable and when i do speak with some one they tell i can not give them any information about my SSN, DOB because they can just give information regard the letter we received. they will not tell me the status.
A zero on line 28 then either you entered the incorrect amount you got in the advance CTC payment OR the number of qualifying children you have on the return changed from 2020 to 2021... ( for instance if you got the advance for 2 kids but only claimed one on the return then you already got all of the credit you are allowed). Review the return carefully.
I have already, i had a tax filer look at my return, its not entered. I know i did not get it but i sent form 15110 back to the IRS and still not received anything at the moment.
You may need to amend your return to get the amount to show up on line 28. That's the only way to get the other half of Child Tax Credit. How many children do you have and their ages on Dec 31? When you filled out your return did you enter the advance amount you already got and from letter 6419? It is possible you may not qualify for the other half, like if you made too much income or didn't claim the same number of children as on your 2020 return.
The 15111 is for the Earned Income Credit only not the CTC ... so if there is nothing on the line 28 the IRS will not correct that for you. To correct that you will need to file an amended return AFTER the IRS finishes processing your original return and you have the refund in hand.
Yes, i know. they have sent me the NoticeCP09 which the Form 15111 was attached. I filled that out already and its been since March of 2022 that i have not heard anything.
Your telling me what i have already done. im just addressing that i have completed the form 15111 and its more than 8 weeks and have called multiply times to the IRS and not having any luck. Im trying to find the status of the form. That's all i am saying.
You wrote
"i received my tax refund but i never got my other half of the CHILD Taxe Credit. I am still waiting."
You asked about the child tax credit in your first post, but now you are talking about form 15111. Form 15111 has nothing to do with the child tax credit. That form is for the earned income credit---a completely separate credit. So what are you trying to ask about?
You say that line 28 is blank. We do not know how many children you claimed as dependents on your 2021 tax return, so we cannot say if you should still be getting any more child tax credit. Line 28 is for the child tax credit if you are getting more as part of your refund.
As for the earned income credit, you need to look at line 27a of your Form 1040 to see if you got the earned income credit already.
We received the same letter in April 2022. Sent it back with everything they asked for. Well no January 2023 we received everything back including our envelope that we sent with it stating they are missing form 15111 which was sent back to us. IRS has no idea why it was sent back and now says to fill it out again and send it in. We never received a check.
The IRS is taking extended periods to respond which is unfortunate.
The best resource for you may be the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS). They are in place to assist in situations where you are unable to obtain resolution on your own.
This will get the process started for you. It's not going to be a fast process because they are handling a large volume at this time.
If you do not hear from TAS within one week of submitting Form 911, contact the Taxpayer Advocate office where you originally submitted your request. Incomplete information or requests submitted to a Taxpayer Advocate office outside of your geographical location may result in delays.
