How does one get a refund for their state e-file fee? I went to e-file my state taxes, was sent to the payment site, paid the $25, and when I went to transmit my forms was told that my state taxes could not be e-filed. I tried using the automated assistant: useless. I called the "customer service" number and the representative was barely understandable. I just want my $25 back.

What was the exact message why you couldn't efile state? They just fixed the problem where no one could efile state. So you might need to update your program and try efiling state again. Go up to Online-Check for Updates. And you can't efile state until Federal has been accepted.
Hi,
The program updates automatically. And if you can't e-file state until the federal return has been accepted why do they charge you for state e-file prior to e-filing state forms?

I paid my $25.00 e-file fee for State of Louisiana and was told I could not e-file because I had to e-file when I sent in my Federal return.
Consequently, I had to mail my state return, thus not being able to e-file.
