Go to the review section of TurboTax to see what action items are needed to finalize your return.  The email you received is an automated email that is sent out when a customer's return is left unfinished.  This is TurboTax's attempt to contact the customer so they can finalize their return.  Clicking on the link will not take you directly to the area that needs to be worked, rather it will take you to your TurboTax account so that you may continue working on finalizing your return.

If you receive two forms 1098, you can add the second form 1098 by following these steps:   In TurboTax Online, open your return and click on Federal Taxes then on Deductions & Credits Click Edit/Add next to Mortgage Interest, Refinancing, and Insurance On the Mortgage deduction summary page, click on Add a Lender and follow the prompts. When a loan is sold to another lender, it’s not the same as a refinance, but you’ll still need to enter each 1098 separately. Follow the steps below for this situation.   Enter the original (sold) loan first:   Sign in to TurboTax and select Pick up where you left off or Review/Edit under Deductions & Credits. Select Show more next to Your Home and Start or Revisit next to Mortgage Interest and Refinancing (Form 1098). Answer Did you pay any home loans in 2023? and Continue. You can either sign in to your financial institution and import your 1098 forms, or select Change how I enter my form. Next, you can either upload a digital copy or Type it in myself. Continue through and be sure to enter this 1098 exactly as it appears. Answer the questions, and when you get to the Let's see if this is the most recent form for this loan screen, answer No to Is the 1098 you're working on now the most recent for your loan?. On the next Let's get some details about this loan screen, answer Yes to Is this the original loan you used to buy your property? Select Continue to be taken back to the Your 1098 info so far screen.   Then enter the 1098 for the new loan   On the Your 1098 info so far screen, select Add another 1098 and continue through to either import or enter your information manually. Answer the questions accordingly and complete your 1098 info exactly as it appears on your form. On the Let's see if this is the most recent form for this loan screen, answer Yes to Is the 1098 you're working on now the most recent for your loan? On the next Let's get some details about this loan screen, answer Yes to Is this the original loan you used to buy your property? Even though the loan is with a new lender, it's still considered the original loan for this calculation. When you're all done, you'll see both your forms on the Your 1098 info so far screen. You can Continue through to finish and file your return.   See this TurboTax help article for more information.

If you don’t still have it on your computer it is gone for good.   You should have both a pdf file and the tax data file ending in .tax2025 on your computer.   For windows they should be in your Documents then in a Turbo Tax folder.   Or search your whole computer for all files ending in .tax2025 or .tax.   If you filed you can get a copy from the IRS.

The amount of tips a Self-Employed taxpayer can claim must have been reported on a tax form.  If payments were made through a third-party payer, that income would be reported on Form 1099-K and tips can be identified by you when entering Form 1099-K in TurboTax.    It is possible that the IRS will allow Self-Employed Taxpayers to deduct cash tips, but as of this time, that is not available.    IRS link

Asterisks present on lines 13, 15c and 18 of Form 8606 indicate that TurboTax is using the Taxable IRA Distribution Worksheet (Worksheet 1-1 from IRS Pub 590-B).  When this worksheet is used, lines 6 through 12 of Form 8606 are left blank.  Doing a backdoor Roth causes TurboTax to use this worksheet.
To question "because $0 was withheld in taxes,  you should only select yes if you actually converted $8K using $0 of your own money,  I answered:   Yes, all of this money was converted to a Roth IRA

I think the proper way to compute the business portion of the cost is to take the business mileage for all years and divide by the total mileage for all years, and multiply that % by 100% of the tax basis you used. That basis should be the original cost if placed into service in the year purchased or the lower of cost or Fair Value if converted in a later year from personal use to business use

Thanks, Diane My return was accepted and I'll be waiting to see what IRS determines.  I tried to amend the return, but TT won't let me take out the erroneous extra tax.   A friend of mine had a withholding tax penalty added to his 2024 return, but IRS gave it back to him.  I"m hoping they'll do likewise with mine.

Does anyone know if H&R Block, or any other company, has an easy way to import tax history from TurboTax.  With the significant delay in depreciation I am going to have to switch if TurboTax continues to delay basic functionality.
I also face this issue as of now. TT 2025 Premier says, it downloaded on the browser. But nothing is seen on my TurboTax. I tried with Fidelity, Invesco sites. Same result. Any update will help.

Column B of Form 1095-A asks you to enter the second lowest cost Silver plan (SLCSP) premium amounts.   To find the second lowest cost Silver plan premium amounts for you, use this tool at Healthcare.gov. The software won't accept zeroes in Column B even if that is what is shown on your form.   For more information on Form 1095-A, please see this TurboTax tips article and this help article.

After reviewing your diagnostic file, it appears TurboTax correctly reflects the $31,000 total elective 401(k) deferral limit for 2025 ($23,500 base plus $7,500 catch-up).  Please note, your non-deductible designated Roth contributions are made with after-tax dollars and therefore are not deducted on your tax return.     In Forms Mode, review the Keoph/SEP Wks:   Line 15 shows the correct 2025 contribution limit, $23,500 Line 17 shows the correct 2025 Catchup limit (Age 50 - 59), $7,500 Line 20: shows Subtraction for designated Roth contributions   Please let me know if this addresses your issue or if you are encountering an error of some sort.  I walked through the review process in the file and didn't hit any snags.   @hullian

I would advise leaving off any letters (like MN) in any Federal or State ID number you enter and just enter the numbers following the state abbreviation.   If your 1099-R was issued by a credit union, the Federal ID number will suffice in the State ID number entry, if TurboTax objects to the State ID number you entered.   If you're using TurboTax Online, clear your Cache and Cookies and return to the entry.  If you imported a W-2 or 1099, you could also delete/re-enter the data manually.      @6512528611

@ tomraydell  asked:  "After 5 hours my return is still transmitting. What’s wrong with?"   Please clarify what that means.  By "still transmitting" do you mean you clicked the orange button "Transmit My Returns Now", and it has been spinning for 5 hours, and the screen does not advance??   If so, that's quite abnormal.   It should normally take only a few seconds or at most a few minutes to complete the transmission.    There's no reason to let it spin for 5 hours.   If that's your situation (if your transmission seems "stuck"), you can try again later, and in the meantime troubleshoot your modem, router, Internet connection, etc.    If using a VPN, you may wish to try without the VPN.   If using wireless, you may wish to try with a wired connection.    Or do you mean the transmission was successful, but the efile status still shows as "pending"?  That can be normal until it is accepted or rejected, which can be up to 24-48 hours.
