Even more concerning is that TurboTax let me go through to state returns, double-check the forms, payment, e-deposit account info, and e-file choices -- I probably could have e-filed? Seems like the section where they double-check the forms should have put up a message about needing to wait until depreciation was finished... but not a peep :(

According to the New York State Department of Taxation's website this form (IT-209) for Noncustodial Parents to claim a specialized Earned Income Credit must be filed with your New York State Tax Return, Form IT-201in order to claim a tax credit worth the higher of 20% of the Federal Earned Income Credit or 2.5 times the federal EIC you could have claimed if you had satisfied the eligibility requirements, calculated as if you had no qualifying children.
The website also goes on to state the form must be included with the tax return and if that is already filed, an amended return is required.
Some of the requirements for this credit include the following:
You cannot claim both the noncustodial Earned Income Credit and the standard NYS Earned Income Credit.
Qualifying children must have a valid Social Security number by the return due date.
You must be a full-year New York State resident.
You must be at least 18 years of age.
You must have a court order for child support payable through a New York State Support Collection Unit (SCU) for at least half the year.
You must be current on your support payments, having paid at least the ordered amount for the year.
You must be the parent of a child under 18 who did not reside with you.
You must be filing as Single, Head of Household or Jointly, not filing separately.
As per xmasbaby0 mentions above, you must wait until your tax return(s) have been fully processed in order to amend.
You can click this link for more in-depth instructions on how to amend your state tax return in TurboTax How Do I Amend My State Tax Return?

The total income from selling that you will report and be taxed on is the proceeds of the stock sales less the associated cost of them. The proceeds of stocks sold to cover taxes would be included in the Form 1099-B. The proceeds of the investment sales is $27,280.26, the total in the first column of the first worksheet. The cost of those sales may be the cost basis reported on the Form 1099-B, or it may be something else. That same worksheet lists the dates acquired and dates sold. It appears the first row shows the stock sold to pay taxes, as the proceeds and cost basis are about the same and they were sold one day after purchased, so no gain is involved there which is typical. That would explain the approximate $6,000 discrepancy between what the proceeds were and what you received. The second and third rows appear to be stocks acquired and then sold several months later. It may be that the Form 1099-B lists the correct cost basis of shares sold, but it may be wrong as often it won't factor in the income entered on your W-2 form. The only way to be sure would be to add what you paid for the shares, if anything, to the income reported on the W-2 forms. Since it seems you sold all of the shares, that would give you the correct cost basis. As mentioned by @MarilynG1 you can adjust the cost basis if it is wrong on the Form 1099-B entry.

I agree. I saw something about a new release coming out on February 12th? Also, lots of people complaining about that their New York State tax was rejected because of all this?

I am using Turbo Home & Business 2025. I am a in the US. I have never had any Canadian Retirement Distribution. When I want to input my Social Security 1099 the program defaults to either taking me back to the income summary page or if I select "visit all" for retirement income it starts a Canadian Retirement page. I cannot find any SSA-1099 forms in my file.(2/10/2026)

No, state reciprocal agreements pertain only to W-2 employees, not Self-Employed Taxpayers. Only Self-Employed taxpayers get Form 1099-NEC. Employees get a W-2.
You'll have to file a Schedule C as a self-employed NJ resident with PA income.
After the federal return, do the non-resident PA return and claim the PA income.
Next, do your resident NJ return. You will get a credit on your NJ if you paid tax to PA on the income earned in PA.
