You can't determine a cost basis will have to use $0.00. Another option would find the historical trading data for WBA and take the lowest price during the period your sister worked for the company. There are multiple websites that will provide you historical price information, although some sites may not provide it for Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) since it was taken private and delisted.
For acquisition date use "Various". For the sales section select: Box E - Long Term - Basis not Reported to the IRS.

My son got a 1098-T from his college. In TurboTax, I entered the amount in Box 1 - "Payments received for qualified tuition and related expenses." When I had finished entering the form, our refund jumped about $800. Then on a subsequent page, TurboTax asked about his other education-related expenses: required books, optional books, course fees, etc. I am fairly sure the amount on the 1098-T includes most of those expenses, since we paid them directly to the college from our 529 plan. I entered the separate amounts when TurboTax asked, though, and our refund jumped again. Are those amounts really separate? Or should I remove them, since they're already in the 1098-T? I don't want to claim the same expenses twice. Thank you.

Seriously, same error, different year! Why not post something on your site for customers that transmissions are not going through at this time and to try later? This is unacceptable business practice not alerting your customers of your technical difficulties and expecting them to "troubleshoot" on their end when you know it is coming from your end.

When entering Box 14 from your W-2 in TurboTax with the description "Pretax Benefits such as Health, Dental, and/or Vision" and code 6, select the category related to "Box 14 - Other (not classified elsewhere)". This is because pretax benefits like health, dental, and vision insurance premiums reported here are typically employer-provided amounts not fitting into standard boxes or codes. TurboTax allows you to label these amounts as pretax benefits or health insurance deductions in Box 14 for informational purposes but does not apply a specific IRS code for them. Selecting the general Box 14 category is appropriate to ensure correct recognition within your return.

Hello. I just started receiving my teacher's pension in 2025 for five months. Being that my monthly pension payment will not equal my contributions in 36 months I have to use the General Rule. In Turbotax they ask "Contributions made to the plan (basis)" which I understand is my total contributions. Then they ask "Expected return on contract". What is this value supposed to be? If it is an expected return how do I calculate it? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

HOW TO CHANGE OR ENTER BANKING INFORMATION FOR REFUND
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/change-transferred-direct-deposit-information/L77NCbU6D_US_en_US?uid=m6tuh572
You cannot change banking information while your return is in pending, nor can you change it after the return is accepted. The IRS does not allow it.
Did you already e-file? If you did NOT e-file you can go to the FILE section step 2 to enter/change how you want to receive your refund. If you want direct deposit you need the routing number and your own account number.
If you e-filed:
Banking information for direct deposit is wrong or closed
If you entered incorrect banking information for your refund, you can change it if your return is rejected. If it is accepted, however, it is too late to change it. The bank will reject the refund and send it back to the IRS.
https://www.taxpayeradvocate.irs.gov/news/tax-tips/direct-deposit-changes-for-2026-could-affect-how-and-when-you-get-your-refund/2026/01/
You may get this notice— a cp53a notice
https://www.irs.gov/individuals/understanding-your-cp53a-notice
If you take NO action—-the IRS will freeze your refund for at least six weeks and then mail you a check.
If your refund is sent back to the IRS—- make certain that the address you entered on your Form 1040 is correct. And…open all mail, even if it looks like junk mail.
And……if you choose “refund processing” or the “5 day early” offer, those involve a third party bank; sadly, you will have a lot of additional aggravation in tracking down your refund and getting a check.

Note: Gains in GLD are taxed as a collectible, not a security. Wild. I've done the whole spreadsheet thing and calculated everything, but I'm not sure what to do with it. I have downloaded my 1099-B from my broker Charles Schwab with the missing cost info. Do I change the data in the 1099-B to fix my missing cost in the sale? ANd change the security to a collectible? Or do I delete the incorrect 1099-B and enter it manually? Or ignore it as the dollars are de minimis in my case ($525 in sales, $450 in cost of sales). Thanks for any thoughts on this. nb, my friend holds his GLD at Fidelity and he says they include the cost in their 1099-B!

I have a similar situation with a joint savings account that I had with my mother. She passed away on February 1, 2025 (the account was subsequently closed) and the 1099-INT came in her name and SSN. It’s my understanding that the interest earned and posted in January (prior to her passing) will be claimed on her tax return, and I will claim the remaining interest earned on the account on my tax return. A tax accountant is doing my mother’s taxes, and I am doing my own through TT. Based on the information provided in the answer above, the tax accountant doing my mother's taxes should be responsible for providing me with a 1099-INT for the amount of interest earned after she passed, showing my mother as the payer and me as the recipient, and also for completing and submitting my 1099-INT with the Form 1096 to the IRS. As for getting the Forms 1096 and 1099-INT to complete and mail to the IRS, I thought that was something I should do. I had previously found the pages about these forms on the IRS website (the links are provided in the above comment), but the instructions there clearly indicate that the red forms are only for informational purposes and are not to be completed and submitted to the IRS, which contradicts the information provided in the comment above. That being the case, I have been at a loss as to where to acquire the forms that can be submitted to the IRS, which is why I am here. At least I have learned that the 1099-INT I will need, and the Form 1096, should be provided and submitted to the IRS by the tax accountant doing my mother’s taxes. I’m glad I got clarification of this because I can’t get an answer from the tax accountant and I’ve finished my taxes and they’re ready to file.
