Full time college student and the 5K is the taxable part of their scholarship that was used towards room & board. Rechecked personal info and it does show they are a dependent on someone else's return and being claimed on someone else's return. I believe standard deduction should only be the 10K in earned income plus $450, but Turbo tax is giving the full $15,750 standard single deduction. I don't want to underpay tax, but can't see how to fix.

If you do fall into a category where the IRS may not require a number, it's a situation where you will likely need to print the return and mail it. I would advise you to do that. There is no override I am aware of. It's also unusual for an accredited school not to have an EIN or refuse to provide one. They do know the IRS requirements.   I would reiterate the statement provided by @DaveF1006: You generally do not need an Employer Identification Number (EIN) for an educational institution when claiming the Lifetime Learning Credit (LLC) if the school is foreign and not required to have one, or if you can otherwise substantiate qualified expenses. However, the institution must still be an eligible educational institution. How do I file my return by mail? @user17731643465

A diagnostic file in TurboTax, was generated when you shared your data using a token with a TurboTax agent. It is a sanitized copy of your tax return designed for troubleshooting  an issue in the TurboTax program.    It allows TurboTax agents to view your tax data to help resolve specific errors or calculation issues you may have encountered while using TurboTax. The file is sanitized, which means all of your personally identifiable information (such as names, Social Security numbers, addresses) is removed. Only numbers related to your tax calculations and inputs can be seen. You do not need to save the diagnostic file after sharing it.

Assuming that you are trying to enter your retirement income reported to you on Form 1099-R, follow the steps below:   Select Federal Select Wages & Income Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security Select Start by IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) Follow the instructions on the screen. After you add the first 1099-R, you'll return to the screen Review your 1099-R summary, where you can select Add another 1099-R if needed.   Refer to the TurboTax Help article  Where do I enter my 1099-R? for detailed navigation instructions.   Here’s an article from TurboTax regarding 1099-R’s: When to Use Tax Form 1099-R: Distributions From Pensions, Annuities, Retirement, etc. for information regarding retirement information.
If they don't have a QMID number, the windows were likely not qualified for the tax credit.
I also have this exact problem.   Will this be resolved in a normal update?

I'm not sure when you want me to use this password. At what point should I be entering my keychain or login password? The issue is that when using TurboTax to "print" to a PDF file with password protection, the PDF file ends up with no password protection. If I go through the exact same process with other apps (using the Print dialog to print to a PDF with a password) it works fine, but with TurboTax the PDF ends up with no password protection.

If you have already filed your return using TurboTax Online (TTO) and now need to amend your return using TurboTax Desktop (TTD) to report your 1099-C and also include Form 982, you will need to contact TurboTax Support to assist you with switching products, because TTO does not support manual entry of Form 982.   Here is a link to What's the TurboTax phone number? for further assistance.

Currently, TurboTax supports the manual entry of IRS Form 1099-DA. We are in the process of enhancing our CSV import and upload features to make this process more seamless. Timeline: We expect the new CSV import functionality to be available soon. Please note that this is an estimated target as we finalize the experience. Supported Documents: Once live, the import/upload feature will support both 1099-DA and DigitalAssetGainLoss files. If you are ready to file now, you can still enter your information manually. Otherwise, thank you for your patience while we get these automated tools ready for you!

This sounds like a different issue to me. In my case, I could always see and "select" the months 10, 11, or 12, but I would not actually select the month as it either stayed at unselected or whatever month I previously selected. My workaround was that I had one card with an expiration month that I could enter.
