If you know you filed and that the return was accepted, just ignore the marketing emails that you are getting, the same way you ignore any other spam email.

Yes, absolutely! If this was the first time your business showed a profit and you didn't make any estimated payments to cover the additional tax, this could be the first time you are seeing an underpayment penalty.  No, if your expenses exceed your income for your business, you wouldn't need to pay estimated tax for that income, because there would be no additional taxes due.

It depends. As long as they are paying you through the difficulty of care program since you live in the same home and provide their care, yes you would qualify.   In this situation you would still need to enter the 1099- Misc and then back the income out since they sent it on a 1099 instead of a W2. To enter the 1099 Misc as non-self-employment income take the following steps: Income 1099-MIsc under Other Common Income Enter the information from the 1099-MIsc Continue through and say the work does NOT involve work that is like your main job Select the years you received it Say no, to did this involve an intent to earn money Then you will take the following steps to remove the income: Income Less Common Income Miscellaneous Income Other Reportable Income Answer Yes to Any Other Taxable Income Enter the description such as 1099-Misc received for nontaxable Difficulty of Care payments Enter the amount on the 1099-Misc as a negative number.

Do NOT click on anything that says "amend."   You are not amending.   You are just making a correction to an unfilled return so that you can e-file it.   Go to MY INFO, click her name and go through the screens to the question that asks if she can be claimed as someone else's dependent.   Change the answer to that question.  Then try to e-file it again.

You can either just enter 50% of the total in one of the specified categories and keep your own notes that you only claimed 50% for business, or put it in the miscellaneous expenses category where you can type 'Internet 50%' as the description.  Either way will work.     TurboTax will not prorate the amount for you, so you need to calculate it and enter only 50% of the total if that is the amount you used for business purposes.   @TechTracker

I logged into my TurboTax desktop version using my desktop icon as I usually do, and have done for the past 12 years. The first thing that came up was the update feature, which I downloaded those changes, and when TurboTax restarted it gave me the online version, not the desktop version for which I had paid. I had filed my taxes via the Desktop version several weeks ago and was going back in to print out a second set of returns for my partner. So, the switch to the online version came immediately after the updates. And now, when I use the desktop icons for my previous year's TurboTax returns, each one goes into the online version. So yes, it was the update that made the change. If I wanted the online version, I would have purchased it.

To file a new prior-year return for tax year 2023, 2022, or 2021, you'll need to purchase and download that year's TurboTax software for PC or Mac, as TurboTax Online and the mobile app are only available for the current tax year.   Note: Returns for tax year 2020 and earlier are no longer eligible to be filed through TurboTax.   Prior-year returns must be paper-filed, as e-filing is no longer available for them. We'll walk you through that process when you get to the File section in the software.   After installing the software, open it and follow the onscreen instructions to file your return.

Each tax year has to be filed separately using the forms for the specific tax year.  They cannot be combined in any way--do not even put them in the same envelope when you mail them.  Software for past years is available back to 2021.  Any earlier years can only be prepared on paper forms by hand--and those refunds have been forfeited now.   In order to receive a refund for 2021, the return must be mailed no later than April 15, 2025 or that refund will also be forfeited.   The current online program can only be used for a 2024 return--no other year.  And if you did not file a timely 2023 return you will have trouble e-filing 2024.  When it asks for your 2023 AGI try using zero.  If zero does not work then you have to print, sign and mail 2024       It might be better for you to seek local paid tax help in a situation when you are several years behind in filing your tax returns.  Do you even have all of the documents you will need to enter and show your income—like your W-2’s and any 1099’s?     If you want to useTurboTax:   You cannot change the tax year.   The current online program is for 2024 only.   Only a 2024 return can be prepared online and only a 2024 return can be e-filed.   Online preparation and e-filing for 2021, 2022, and  2023 is permanently closed.   Note:  The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It cannot be used on a mobile device.   To file a return for a prior tax year  If you need to prepare a return for 2021, 2022, or 2023  you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s) https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/ You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.   Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0   When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.   Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

Thank you for the downloadable links. I am still connected to the internet here where I am physically located, visiting in AZ. The real test will be when I go back home to Schurz, NV, where I do not have internet services at home. I hope and pray to God that I will be able to follow through with the effort to acquire and receive the Economic Impact Payment aka the Recovery Rebate Credit. Thank you, also for the necessary help. I was not getting any help anywhere else, not even H&R Block. The lady employed at the only office in Kayenta, AZ, was rude and not willing to share any useful information with me or guidance for me. I am absolutely impressed by the tax community at intuit TurboTax esp, xmas_baby0 (level 15), soon to be "level 16".  Sincerely with American love from my heart, [email address removed]

I took these steps. After putting in my email, and then putting in the code I received over text it ask me to create a new password. I skipped that and it took me to turbo tax and asked me to start a new return.  No list of accounts. It is asinine for Intuit to allow multiple accounts for the same unique identifier like an email address.
There is an option in the list of states for 'foreign' or 'US territory'.  On the TurboTax desktop version, this choice is at the very bottom of the list.

Click federal wages and income Show more next to Other Common Income Start next to 1099-K Select Other for what type of income Enter the info from your 1099-K Select "This amount in box 1a is too high or includes some personal transactions" Enter the amount that should not be included which would be the entire amount Hit continue This will allow you to enter it and show the IRS it wasn't forgotten, but then also remove it.  Keep it with your records with a statement as you just made explaining how/why, in case of a question ever.

Yes, if the school is an eligible institution.  You must be a half time or more student.    As you appear to know, you may use the lesser of your actual cost or the school's  allowance for cost of attendance (COA).  Lacking a COA, I agree with KrisD15, you can use a published average or   R&B COA (or actual charges) of a local college, whichever is less.    To be eligible for using 529 distributions, the course must be taken at "an eligible institution". The school should be able to tell you if it is an eligible educational institution. In general, an eligible educational institution is an accredited college, university, vocational school, or other postsecondary educational institution, including accredited, public, nonprofit, and proprietary (privately-owned, profit-making) postsecondary institutions. Additionally, in order to be an eligible educational institution, the school must be eligible to participate in a student aid program administered by the Department of Education. If they issue a 1098-T they are probably an eligible institution. Enter your school at the link below, to see if it's on the dept. of education list.    https://www.savingforcollege.com/eligible-institutions    Schools that only offer online courses usually do not qualify.  Online classes taken at schools that also have  classroom instruction usually do count.

You will have to print and mail your tax return including all of your dependents.  Any refund on your tax return will be paid.  The IRS will contact you and the other party by mail within a year to start an investigation on who can claim the dependent.  The loser of the investigation has to pay back any refund based on the dependent plus penalties and interest.   See this TurboTax support FAQ for printing a tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/printers-printing/print-mail-return-turbotax-online/L5bwuqXGy_US_en_US?uid=m9bbfbxc
