Depending on the type of installment sale you need to report on Form 1065, you may be able to enter this under Rental Real Estate, which has a step-by-step interview for the installment sale of rental assets.    Otherwise, the principal portion of the installment payments received during the year should be entered as Ordinary Income for Form 1065 Line 1(a). If you choose to enter Service Receipts by Category, you can add your own description for the principal amount. Entries under this topic go to Line 1(a).   The interest income from the installment sale should be reported under Interest and Dividend Income for Line 5. This topic includes interest from Banks, CDs, etc. (which includes all interest from investments). Only interest earned from trade or business operations is reported under Other Business Income.

Be sure to report that your husband died during the year on the return. Go to PERSONAL INFO and review your husband's information. There should be a screen titled Do any of these situations apply to XXX. There should be a box to check that says "passed away before the filing of the return".    If this validation process fails again, you may need to print and mail your return if you don't have the required information.

Thanks for the work-around, but this is wrong interpretation of box 3 by TurboTax. When investing in brokerage notes (Such as Pershing/ BNY), the intention IS to earn money. Both TurboTax and Pershing/ BNY are established players, and them not agreeing on the purpose (or intent) of reporting ordinary investment income on 1099-MISC box 3 is not good for anyone.
@pedestriancrosswalkmusic    ANNND you only enter the first three digits...not the whole munber.

Thank you for the info regarding the shady practices of INTUIT (Turbo Tax). I am ready to fill in my complaint with FTC. If, we as customers do NOT VOICE what is going on with this company (INTUIT) they will continue to get away with it. Do we have any attorneys who are ready to FIGHT this company in a court of law? Please sign on by replying. INTUIT (Turbo Tax) has been at this FRAUD for way too long. It's time that justice comes knocking at their door AGAIN!!

Ask for an Oregon Return Transcript for 2024. This is not an exact copy of your return (with shading, lines, and boxes) but is a document that shows the line numbers on the tax form along with the amounts for you.   As you can see, you can probably get the transcript online. Otherwise, for $5 you can get an exact copy of your return.
No, SSA does not issue the letter.  You may be able to get one from a state agency if you are in need of state benefits such as Medicaid, food stamps, or housing.
