Hello all, I’m reviewing Schedule A and noticed that line 5a only reflects the state estimated payment related to my IRA withdrawal. However, in 2025 I also made an additional state estimated payment directly through the New Jersey portal (“NJ WEB PMT”).   Under the "Deductions & Credits" section, this additional payment is clearly entered in the state estimated tax payment field, but it is not being included on Schedule A, line 5a. I’ve double-checked this with both ChatGPT and Gemini, and my understanding is that this estimated payment should be included as well. The payment made through the NJ portal does appear correctly on my state return (NJ-1040, Page 2). Before contacting TurboTax, I wanted to run this by the group as a quick sanity check. Thank you in advance for your help. Best, Dave

Given your step-mother's age, she would have been subject to required minimum distributions (RMDs) which means that you, as a non-spouse beneficiary are required to take RMDs beginning in the year following herdeath.  The amount of the RMD is determined using your age at the end of the year following the owner's death.   The amount of the RMD is determined using the IRS Single Life Expectancy Table.  In addition to annual RMDs, the  entire account must be liquidated by the end of the 10th year following the death.     For the year of death, you (the beneficiary) must take any RMD your step-mother was required to make but did not.  You can use the same table from the link above to determine that RMD if applicable.

What state?   And what/where is the roadblock?  Is there any message?   NOTE:  Have you already  efiled your Federal return separately, and if so, has it been accepted?   If you already efiled the Federal return by itself, you cannot efile the state return until the Federal has been accepted.  Or is it something else?   Have you gone through the state review section to check for any errors?

The software development team is working on it. We expect an update this weekend. You will want to update software if you are using the desktop.

Thank you for your reply. Would having another insurance policy (i.e. my marketplace coverage) for the entire duration of my employment mean that I had disqualifying coverage? If this is the case, do I mark that I did not have HDHP coverage for any month on form 8889-T? I read online that I should contact my benefits provider to have them reclaim the HSA payment made by my employer--would you agree this is the correct thing to do in this case?

Do you mean that the IRS asked you to verify your identity?   Only the IRS controls when your refund will be issued;  TurboTax gets no information after you file your return, so no one at TT knows you had to verify your identity.  TurboTax is not part of any of that.   Watch the IRS site for information.    Having to verify your identity with the IRS can delay your refund ---be prepared to wait about nine weeks and consider yourself lucky if it is less.

You are correct, this reject is when the spouse's SSN in the return must not be the same as the Primary SSN on another return filed for the same tax year.   You should verify that the information is correct, name, SSN, date of birth, if there is a correction needed do it and resubmit. If everything is correct, you will have to contact the IRS for further guidance and file by mail.     It would be recommended to file a report of identity theft.

@DLWoodrum , as I said if this is an income stream that is NOT incidental, then you need to enter / report this as  Schedule-C  ( self-Employment ) income.  And since the work is being performed in the US , it is US sourced income ---- it is  immaterial whom or where the payment is made.  If the monies came from  say Shanghai and got deposited in your bank account in Singapore, it is still US sourced income for you.   Sorry for the confusion.   Is there more I can do for you?

Did the IRS send you a notice and required you to ID Verify?   If so, the IRS website says it can take 2-3 weeks to show a change in "Where's My Refund". https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund The IRS website also says it "may take up to 9 weeks" after ID verification to process and receive a Federal refund, but it's often not that long.
If you have not received a 1099-R for a particular IRA all of that information would be available on a form 5498 which the manager for your IRA should provide annually.
I am going to add some screen shots to help. You will have to add supporting statements and override as I have noted in the pictures.
