There is not enough information to address your refund, but you can look at your Schedule 1 line 8r to see if the extra scholarship was reported.

I live in NY and work in NJ. I work about 50% in-person in NJ and 50% remote from my home in NJ. I know NJ has a convenience of the employer rule where I pay taxes on all of my W2 income regardless of where I work because if I choose to work in NY it's for my convenience. But I also pay taxes on that income in NY as a NY resident. It sounds like NJ has a credit for people who live in NJ but work in NY. Does NY have something similar going the other way? Or am I bound to be double taxed?

Look at lines 36a & 36b of Schedule 1-A - married filing separately can still use line 36a.

@user17700666027 If your only income is from Social Security on a Form SSA-1099 and retirement income on a Form 1099-R, there is no need to upgrade from the Free online edition.
Did you have any other income or did you contribute to an IRA so that you would be eligible for the Saver's Credit (not supported by the Free edition)
You may want to clear your tax return and start over to get rid of the requirement to upgrade.
If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return and start over. Click on Switch Products on the lower left side of the program screen while working on the 2025 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over
Go to this TurboTax website for the Free online edition - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/free-edition.jsp

I have $3 being reported on a 1099-DIV from sale of a mutual fund. Turbo Tax is generating a form 8995 and won't let me delete it. From what I understand, I don't think mutual fund qualifies as a pass through from whatever underlying investment might be considered a partnership so I should not get the deduction. It's sure not worth it to me to chance it for $3 bucks so I'm just trying to delete the form but the form keeps reappearing after I delete it. If my only work-arounds are to modify the 1099 DIV or to print and mail hardcopies myself, it defeats the purpose of using TurboTax to e-file.

Most likely you have a tax credit, such as an earned income credit, that is going down as your income decreases. If the decrease in the credit is more than the decrease in your tax before the credit, then your net tax due will increase. You can look at your Form 1040, lines 18 to 32 to see what is happening to your credits as you enter more business expenses.
To view your form 1040 and schedule 1 to 3:
Choose Tax Tools from your left menu bar in TurboTax Online while working in your program
Choose Tools
Choose View Tax Summary
See the Preview my 1040 option in the left menu bar and click on it
Choose the Back option in the left menu bar when you are done

I dont get much for my refund 2599 to be exact, and im broke and in need, lay off from work December. But anyways i e-fill My tax using turbo tax, its very simple but still choose the deluxe and online premium help kind a thing (I paid/deducted to my refund $179 total) I did tha in purpose because I want to make sure someone will help/guide me for the refund advance > and agent did help me (with that credit karma for refund advance) >all get through> and hour after I get an email my e-fill has been accepted by IRS> I was happy im getting a partial at least 100-500 from my refund thru refund advance due to its said If approved, your funds will be available in your Credit Karma Money™ checking account typically within 15 minutes of the IRS accepting your e-filed return.> unfortunately I did not get any email if I get approved or denied> next day I called to check the status of my refund advance, agent said still pending (that was friday) so ok I said maybe Monday ill get it> today (Monday) I called I get so disappointed and frustrated the agent said I did not apply for refund advance. Which is bs an agent help me follow all that steps. Even get that premium offer to make sure I do it right . It really disappointed me, this my last time Ill use turbo tax. But to be honest im still hoping to get that refund advance, I dont have any money not even gas on my car, my phone line is cut. Idk what to do now.

From the IRS:
Deduction for Seniors
New deduction: Effective for 2025 through 2028, individuals who are age 65 and older may claim an additional deduction of $6,000. This new deduction is in addition to the current additional standard deduction for seniors under existing law.
The $6,000 senior deduction is per eligible individual (i.e., $12,000 total for a married couple where both spouses qualify).
Deduction phases out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 ($150,000 for joint filers).
Qualifying taxpayers: To qualify for the additional deduction, a taxpayer must attain age 65 on or before the last day of the taxable year.
Taxpayer eligibility: Deduction is available for both itemizing and non-itemizing taxpayers.
Taxpayers must:
include the Social Security Number of the qualifying individual(s) on the return, and
file jointly if married, to claim the deduction.

I have been receiving derivative benefits on behalf of my son for 10 months out of 2025. The tax form SSA-1099 came in his name because he turned 18 in November and began receiving the benefits directly to him. How do I proceed in entering this form? Is it strictly for his taxes? Or do I enter on mine at all?

If you would like to send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information it would help. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions: (Don't forget to give us the state)
TurboTax Online:
Open your return -Go to the menu panel on the left side of your return and select Tax Tools.
Then select Tools below Tax Tools.
A window will pop up which says Tools Center.
On this screen, select Share my file with Agent.
You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is. Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.
Reply to this thread with your Token number and your state. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information.
TurboTax Desktop:
If you like, you can send a copy of your return that will be scrubbed to eliminate your personal data by using these steps:
Click on Online in the top left menu of TurboTax Desktop for Windows
Select 'Send Tax File to Agent'* > Follow the prompts to reach the token number.
Enter your email used for TurboTax > Enter your code > Send
Write down or send an image of your token number and state then place in this issue.
We can then review your exact scenario for a solution.
Please also tell us any states included in the return. This is necessary for us to view the return.
*If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, 'Send Tax File to Agent')
We will be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return to provide you with a resolution.

When logging in through the Expert Assist option on the web based TurboTax platform, the system at least generates a specific New York State error message upon attempting to initiate the state return. By contrast, the Windows desktop version is significantly more confusing, particularly for a user who has not previously navigated that interface. It appears only that the relevant form has not yet been released, but the web based platform at least makes that fact apparent. The desktop version does not, and TurboTax should do a better job of clearly explaining this issue to users on the desktop platform.
