@mahamaher wrote: We have a right to whine,  but why are you ALWAYS defending this Mega Organization? I am DENOUNCING the continual whining by people who are denigrating Intuit for making a legitimate business decision (which is their right to do and ALSO their obligation to their shareholders). You may have a "right to whine" but I have a concomitant right to call you a whiner for as long as you whine.   I am NOT defending Intuit. PLEASE do not make that mistake. In fact, I think it was a rash decision to stop supporting Windows 10, BUT I fully understand it from a business perspective.

Thank you again for all your help.  It was a lot but I think I can get through it now without spending hundreds on a CPA.

If you mean you want to deduct a vehicle registration fee in 2025 even though you didn't pay for it until 2026, no you can't deduct it in a year when you didn't pay it.   You may be referring to the purchase of an electric vehicle, wherein you have to have acquired it before September 30, 2025 to qualify for a credit for a clean vehicle purchase. If so, it would not matter when you titled the vehicle, as long as you had purchased it before September 30, 2025.

The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO.  You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security)     2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS SINGLE $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind + $2000) MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750  (65 or older/legally blind +1600) MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500  (65 or older/legally blind + $1600) HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)     For 2025 through 2028 there is an extra  deduction amount of up to $6000 per individual 65 or older filing Single, MFJ, or HOH which is phased out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.   (The deduction phases out completely at $175.000 Single or HOH, or $250,000 joint)   The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e.  Turbo Tax automatically includes it. it is 01/27 and i am still unable to update the Home energy credits in my windows desktop version. Adding myself to the list. I received the email, updated my software and it is still unavailable. It might have been better if in the email it stated that the updates were rolling out over a period of x days and may not yet be available.

You can have a conversation with customer support.   If you went ahead and e-filed using a paid version, it unlikely they will issue a refund.   Whenever you have questions about the fees---ask BEFORE you e-file.       No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue.  If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help.  Do not use the word “refund.”   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/account-management/contact-turbotax/L2y9ZKpQB_US_en_US?uid=m5s9l2vh
