Final note here (I swear! :^) regarding Windows 11 (and please forgive me if any of this has already been mentioned elsewhere): For those of you who (like me) got stuck with buying a new PC with Windows 11, or who feel forced to upgrade to Windows 11 to continue running TurboTax, I suggest you do whatever you can to minimize the adware & spyware footprint. The easiest thing you can do is download and run a free tool called O&O ShutUp10++ from here: https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10 This is a completely standalone executable that simply applies specific registry settings and Group Policies (GPOs) to lock down the OS as tight as you want it, including completely disabling Windows Recall and Copilot+ if that's what you want (and you probably do). It has three built-in presets that you can further adjust to shut down ALL adware/telemetry/spyware; however if you find that anything "breaks" then you can just run the program again and undo any and all changes with a few mouse clicks. I've been using this tool since Windows 10 came out and I've heard and seen nothing but good things about it. For the more adventurous, you can "upgrade" to a much slimmer Windows 11 edition like IoT Enterprise. This is literally nothing but Windows and Microsoft Edge (which you can actually uninstall like you would any other program). Microsoft Store is not included but you can easily add it with a single short command in the Command Prompt. Also, Copilot+ and Recall features are not included (though I believe they can be added if truly desired). There are other editions that are nearly as slim as IoT Enterprise, however this edition always offers the longest "support" from Microsoft (since it's intended for embedded systems that may be "in the field" for a very long time). Ideally you would migrate to a slimmer Windows edition by wiping your system drive and installing the edition from scratch; but that's obviously a disruptive upgrade and most of us would rather not go that route. In my case, I was only able to tolerate the bloatware in Windows 11 Home edition on my new laptop for about a week, after which I broke down and did a full wipe of the SSD and installed IoT Enterprise. I'm still stuck with that dumb-downed version of Explorer (though there are ways to bring back most of the old Explorer features). And yeah, if I wanted any support from Dell for this new laptop, they could refuse to do that -- unless it was an obvious hardware issue like a dead drive or broken screen. But getting rid of all that ugly adware was worth the risk of "no support", which in most cases means "figure it out yourself". Which is basically what your hardware vendor will tell you anyway for most of the problems that we encounter with PCs, which (surprise!) are usually due to bugs in Windows. The ISO images for IoT Enterprise and other slimmer editions are freely downloadable directly from Microsoft. Also, Windows Activation is not really necessary unless you want or need to Personalize the OS; however activation is also not a problem. (Exactly how to accomplish all this is left as an exercise for the reader, as I don't want to risk having this reply deleted for wrongspeak). In any case, at this point it seems that all that Microsoft cares about (for market share purposes) is the number of Windows installations, not which edition is installed, or where it came from, or how it was installed, or whether it is activated, etc. May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor! 😉

In your post in an old thread from last year about tips, you said that your tips are included in the wages in box 1, but are not shown separately in box 7. In that case, the employer is wrong. The W-2 is not filled out correctly. You should first try to get a corrected W-2 from the employer.
If the employer refuses to correct the W-2 you will have to include a Form 4852 substitute W-2 in your tax return. When you enter the W-2 in TurboTax, enter the correct information instead of what's on the W-2 from the employer. That means you will subtract the amount of tips from box 3 and enter the amount of tips in box 7.
After you enter the W-2 information, you will get a screen that says "Let's check for uncommon situations." Check the box for "Didn't get a W-2" (even though that's not your situation) and click Continue. The next screen asks if you want to complete a substitute W-2. Select Yes. Proceed through the screens, entering the requested information to complete Form 4852. It will ask you to enter explanations of what you did to try to get a correct W-2 from your employer, and how you calculated the amounts that you entered. The prompts on the TurboTax screens assume that you didn't get a W-2 at all, but that's not what the actual Form 4852 says. The form says to explain your efforts to obtain an original or corrected Form W-2, and how you determined the amounts that you entered. TurboTax will include the Form 4852 substitute W-2 in your tax return.
After you complete the substitute W-2 TurboTax will ask you questions to determine if you are eligible for the deduction for tips.
You should not enter the tips as unreported tips. If you do that your tax return will include Social Security tax on the unreported tips. But you already paid that Social Security tax. You don't want to pay it again.

TT Home and Business Desktop will NOT accept ANY Social Security income, pension income, or 1099 NEC income. It says "available soon" for some items and NOTHING for others. This is pathetic. Yes the software was updated today. Over the last 20 years I have found significant calculation errors in TT, and have reported those. A TT CPA would contact me and arrange to correct things in a week. I have no one to contact now--the new "chat" stuff............. How does an organization so big NOT have their software ready to go at this time? Maybe their CEO who got paid $37 Million in 2024 should cut his pay and hire a few extra people to get some work done. I would add that we have TWO family friends who had their checking accounts hacked (the refund account) just after using TT on-line in 2024. That's another whole can of worms, but between that and the use of customer data "for advertising" purposes (read your agreement) says TT needs an entire new ETHOS including allowing clients to keep data on their desktop. Taking care of clients is just as important as profits.

Are you sure you applied or that the application took? To check if you signed up for the TurboTax Refund Advance, you can look in a few specific places in your account or your email.
Check Your TurboTax Order Details
On the Tax Home page, scroll down to the section for "Your tax returns & documents."
Select View Order Details.
Look for "Refund Advance" or "Credit Karma Money" listed under your payment and refund methods.
If it’s not there, you likely selected a standard direct deposit or a different refund option.
Look for Confirmation Emails
If you applied, you should have received automated emails from TurboTax and its partners.
From TurboTax: Search for an email confirming your "Refund Selection."
From Credit Karma: If you were approved, Credit Karma sends an email when the funds are deposited into your Credit Karma Money Spend account.
From WebBank: If your application was denied, you will receive an email from WebBank (the lender) explaining the reason for the decline.
Check Your Credit Karma Money Account
Because the Refund Advance is deposited into a Credit Karma Money™ Spend account, checking that account is the fastest way to see if the loan was processed.
Log in to your Credit Karma account.
Navigate to the Money tab.
If you see a pending or completed deposit for a portion of your refund (typically between $250 and $4,000) shortly after the IRS accepted your return, that is your Refund Advance.
Review Your Tax Return Summary
You can also find clues on your actual tax forms:
Open your 2025 return in TurboTax
Go to the Tax Tools menu on the left
Select Print Center
View your Federal Information Worksheet
Look at the "Direct Deposit" section
If you signed up for the advance, the bank account listed will be the MVB Bank account associated with Credit Karma, rather than your personal bank account.

Dear Intuit/TurboTax Team, I've been a faithful user of TurboTax Home and Business as well as TurboTax Business for 30 years. My uncle who was comptroller for Motorola years ago recommended using TurboTax. I believe to this day he still uses TurboTax. I have tons of donations to charities like Goodwill each year that I use Its Deductible for, as it made the process easy. I agree with many other users that removing Its Deductible doesn't make TurboTax more competitive, but less competitive. Having been a business owner for over 30 years there are things that you do, like adding features to keep yourself competitive. I think it was a very poor decision to remove it. I hope that you will reconsider reinstating it or another similar tool. I didn't find out about this change until after I purchased my 2025 TurboTax Home and Business software last month. I like others. feel as though we aren't getting our moneys worth, when the price of the software keeps getting more expensive and features like this removed. I spent a total of almost $300 for TurboTax Home & Business 2025, plus an extra state and TurboTax Business 2025. I feel that being a customer for 30 years and spending this much to lose a major feature for me. I saw in TurboTax Home and Business today when I clicked on the ? that this was displayed "COMING SOON: We’re working on a new tool to help you look up the fair market value of your item. We expect it to be ready soon, but you can file without it." Is this true? If so, I will wait for this tool, as I was going to consider purchasing Deductible Duck to help me out this year. If this new tool will not be ready in time for filing this year, I am regretfully considering looking into competitors tax programs for next year. Sincerely, Robert

You can use any 5 digit PIN that you select. However, you must have the 2024 AGI from the federal tax return Form 1040 Line 11 to e-file the 2025 tax return.
To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents. Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)
If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created. TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.
Go to this IRS website for free transcripts of a federal tax return - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
For a fee of $30 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

How old is he? Go back to My Info and check the questions. A very common reason is you missed the question if their ssn is valid for employment. You need to say YES, it is valid for employment. And there is one that can be confusing….Was at least half of child's expenses paid by CHILD? Usually is NO, Child didn't pay for more than half of their living expenses. It's not asking if you paid more. If you still can't get it, I would delete the child under My Info and enter them again.
