Nope and what's the rush? The IRS is not accepting returns until a week from today and that section in TurboTax should be updated this week.

Are you referring to the deduction for seniors? TurboTax automatically enters it in your tax return, based on the birth date that you entered in your personal information. The maximum deduction is $6,000. It may be reduced or eliminated based on your Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI), as calculated in Part I of Schedule 1-A.

SC/NC Taxes and moved in 2025. I moved from Ohio to SC in July 1, 2025. My employer did not change but they classify me as a Charlotte, NC employee and withhold NC tax now (I live in SC just south of Charlotte, NC). I understand that I need to file NC first to get a credit of those taxes to SC. Historically, in Ohio- i just filed online and not via Turbotax. Would I file Ohio for the 6 months I was a resident there. Then file NC to get a credit for those tazes on my SC filing, and then file SC? Is there a benefit of buying NC and OH state this year? I have SC already.

I went thru all of those steps. The problem is that on my profile, the correct phone number appears. Somewhere, is my old phone number that only appears on my spouse, Federal Form. Please listen to all of us who are complaining about this issue and realize that there is a bug somewhere in the software that is retaining old phone numbers and is not updating them. Stop making us with this issue go through these useless steps.

Thanks for your responses. Still not tracking with your last comment. Q. Also, since our kid has tax-free scholarship more than triple the amount of 529 NQEE, I assume there's no 10% tax penalty on 529 NQEE? A. Yes. But, better yet, just allocate the expenses to the 529 distribution, not the scholarship taxable income. Please confirm: So, are you saying taxable scholarship is just income, so we can use it for whatever we want and simply report it and it increases our 529 QEE? (Thus it helps reduce the corresponding total of our non-qualified expenses?) I'm not sure what you mean by "just allocate the expenses to the 529 distribution," when we have no other expenses that are 529-allowed expenses. In essence, we are using the first $2K scholarship to cover meal plan costs (if allocating it to any one allowed expense matters), but the only other expenses we have are all housing or food costs above the school's COA, etc. So does the second $2K scholarship simply reduce that NQEE total? And how does this relate to the 10% tax penalty? So would I assume my 529 QEE total from earlier stays the same, but my NQEE total is reduced to $747 after allocating the 2nd taxable scholarship. Is this right?

Thanks. I wonder when / why they couldn't e-File the amendment in this case, as I believe it did last time. In any case, one follow-up. The change was simple enough, and I expect the IRS to accept the change, however given there is a dependency on filing my 2025 returns (i.e. there will be a basis carryover from 2024), does this mean I have to wait until 2024 is accepted before filing my 2025 return?

Dear Intuit, I selected the option to notify me when the 1099-R form was available. I got email telling me that Form 3903 was available. I would suggest that you fix this! Thanks.

Well...hard to know what the issue is in this Public Forum. 1) Make sure you've entered all your income first. Shouldn't matter but might. 2) If you are married and filing separately (MFS), you do have to file the same as your spouse...either both Std Ded, or both itemized.....maybe you set that wrong. 3) If you made any stock donations to a charity, the Form 8283 isn't ready until 4 Feb. Maybe that is affecting it "somehow". 4) Unless some of the itemized deductions you think you have, really aren't. ....(added later) Like any 2025 4th Qtr state tax paid in January 2026, those weren't actually paid in 2025 so don't get added to Federal 2025 itemized deductions....

Your amended return was not e-filed. It has to be filed by mail. Print it, sign and date it in ink, and mail it in. Use a mailing service that will track it so you will know the IRS received it, like certified mail, because you will have a long wait.
Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.
