You should contact the IRS so that they can issue you a refund. Their number is 1-800-829-1040.

A few days ago, I received a letter from the IRS saying I needed to add a Schedule C to my tax return in addition to my Foreign Earned Income (FEI). I amended this on TurboTax, but it seems that TurboTax instead doubled my income on the Foreign Earned Income (putting it twice) and did not put a Schedule C, and the amendment has already been e-filed and accepted by the IRS. TurboTax has an option to do a second amendment online, but I am not sure if I should wait for the current amendment to be fully processed and to wait for a letter from the IRS again about it. So my question is this: Is it appropriate to e-file a second amendment with the correct information, or is it best to allow the first amendment that has errors to be processed first?

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state.
This will take you back to the 2024 online tax return.
Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Then click on Print Center. Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return. Choose the option Include government and TurboTax worksheets

Per IRS instructions for Form 8959 must be filed if:
Your Medicare wages and tips on any single Form W-2 (box 5) are greater than $200,000.
Your RRTA compensation on any single Form W-2 (box 14) is greater than $200,000.
Your total Medicare wages and tips plus your self-employment income, if any (including the Medicare wages and tips and self-employment income of your spouse, if married filing jointly), are greater than the threshold amount for your filing status in the Threshold Amounts for Additional Medicare Tax chart.
Your total RRTA compensation and tips (Form W-2, box 14) (including the RRTA compensation and tips of your spouse, if married filing jointly) is greater than the threshold amount for your filing status in the Threshold Amounts for Additional Medicare Tax chart.
Your Medicare wages include your wages and tips from Form W-2, box 5; your tips from Form 4137, line 6; and your wages from Form 8919, line 6.
Your self-employment income includes amounts from Schedule SE (Form 1040), Part I, line 6. But negative amounts shouldn't be considered for purposes of Form 8959.
If none of these situations apply and if you are married make sure that when you entered your income you allocated it to the correct person. Sometimes if you allocated all forms to the same person, the additional tax will kick in.

Yes, a passive loss that is carried over from an investment is entered during the interview for the Schedule K-1.
The easiest way to find the appropriate section of TurboTax is to go to Tax Tools in the left column then choose Tools >> Topic Search. Type in "schedule K-1", then click the topic in the list that applies and go directly to the start of that section. If you're using TurboTax Desktop, use the search box instead.
Choose the type of K-1 you need to work on, then click "Edit" beside the actual K-1 you need to review. (Add a K-1 if you have not already entered this investment.)
Look for a question like "I have passive activity losses carried over from last year." Check the box and TurboTax will ask you for the carryover amount later in the interview.

They can give us a refund so we can go and repurchase the correct product. It was their error. That is how you make things right. Unless they were deliberately selling this inferior product.

Request a waiver of penalty using a form 5329 and attaching a letter explaining why he was late taking the RMDs. You'll have to mail in your return to do this.

I see this on that site: Combine IRA Savings with State Incentives to Upgrade Your Home With Efficiency and Comfort in Mind The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) helps New Yorkers get the latest clean energy technologies and equipment that will save energy for years to come. From the cars we drive, to the ways we heat and cool our homes, the IRA is helping New Yorkers choose clean energy technologies that improve their health, safety, and quality of life. Did you know? It typically costs less to heat your home with a heat pump than it does to use oil, propane, or other types of electric heat. New York State is investing in charging stations for towns and businesses to help EV drivers get from point A to point B. Since 2023, IRA tax credits have been available to New Yorkers.

In TurboTax "Forms View", Form 1040, line 37 states "Subtract line 33 from line 24. This is the amount you owe". However that does not seem to be correct. Line 37 also includes the "Estimated Tax Penalty" on line 38. I just received a notice from the IRS stating I still owed $117. It seems that the "estimated" amount on line 38, $250 in my case, did not fully satisfy my under payment penalty. Perhaps the $117 does not include an additional penalty. Rather it is just a correction to the original estimated amount of $250. I want to be sure that an underpayment of the "Estimated Tax Penalty" does not result in an additional penalty. If it does, I'd be inclined to overpay the estimated amount to begin with. Perhaps doing so would require an "Override" in TurboTax. Can anyone confirm or correct any or all of the above? Thanks!
