I'm using Home & Bussiness version. I'm a full-time employee while my wife is a full time realtor as self-employed. We would like to maximum the allowable contribution. When I was in bussiness section of retirement deductions and selected Maximum allowable, it tells me that my wife can contribute up to 41,872. However, the amount was reduced to $34,872 when moving to personal section under Deductions&Credit. So my guess is the total 41872 - 7000=34,872 my contribution to Roth (IRA)? So which amount should my wife should contribue by the due date? Please see the captured screen. How it comes up with $41,872? Thanks

Thank you! what's confusing is the wording - you have to hit "yes" even if you haven't contributed for 2024 then it'll take you through the flow. As a follow up, TT tells me my MAX retirement contr. is (let's say) $10K. However, I don't see if this is max across my ROTH (I meet the annual income requirements to invest the full $7K) AND my SEP IRA, or if I have to split the $10K between the ROTH and the SEP. Any advice on how to clarify this? I hit the maximize box for my SEP but there wasn't one for my ROTH. My assumption is that TT is telling me I can only invest $10K TOTAL. I'd like to max out contributions for both retirement products to lower my tax burden. Thanks!!

Yes, you can enter the prior depreciation that was reported last year. If you used TurboTax last year, look for the Car & Truck Worksheet. The number you need is on Part VI Line 38. You can also use the Depreciation and Amortization Report from last year. Total prior depreciation would be the sum of prior and current depreciation on this report.

Adding an RMD should not increase your tax unless it is also generating a penalty. If you are using the software on your own computer you can switch to Forms mode and look for errors (highlighted with red !!!) but you can't do that with Turbotax online. If using online, you can call tech support, they can look at the internals of your file. But you might need to apply for an extension today so you have more time to get through tech support.
One thought would be to delete the 1099-R then enter it again. Enter it manually this time if you previously imported it. Trying answering that there is no RMD requirement.
You might also try deleting the 1099-R and enter it again using code 4Q for box 7 instead of Q. "4" indicates an IRA paid to a beneficiary. It's not clear from the instructions if 4 is allowed with Q, but you could try it and see if it helps. If not, delete the 1099-R and re-enter as-is.
If you leave the 1099-R off, you will probably get a bill for tax due. The IRS assumes all income is taxable unless you prove otherwise, and they will tax you even on a qualified Roth IRA distribution unless you list it on your return as non-taxable and sign your name attesting that your return is true and accurate.

No, this is a public forum, so don't post personal information. You should file an extension if you are not ready to file your return today. An extension gives you until October 15, 2025 to file your taxes instead of the tax deadline of April 15, 2025. You must file an extension by April 15, 2025 to get extra time to file your taxes without a penalty. There's no further extension past October 15, 2025.
An extension does not give you extra time to pay your taxes, which are due on April 15, 2025. Even if you can't pay your taxes by the deadline, file an extension anyway so you can avoid the late-filing penalty.

It depends. The Georgia (GA) 500 form starts with the federal AGI, which would end up for GA as a zero income since you had no gain. You will not show the $250k on your GA tax return. First review your complete GA tax return before amending by looking at the .pdf copy.
If you didn't enter the GA state withholding originally, then you can enter that on an amended tax return using the steps below.
In your TurboTax return Select Deductions & Credits.
In the Estimates and Other Taxes Paid section, click on the Start/Update box next to Estimated Tax Payments.
On the next screen, Income Taxes Paid, scroll to Other Income Taxes Paid in 2024, click on Withholding not already entered on a W-2 or 1099 > Next to the type of tax payment for State Enter your GA state withholding from your sale
If you review your GA tax return, you should see Schedule 1, which shows the amount of income to subtract from the federal which is carried over to page 2. You may also see the information on Schedule 3.
If GA has any questions they will ask, otherwise they will release your refund, if you included it on your original return.
