Note: I have deleted form 5695 and answered all of the Home Energy Credit interview questions three separate times before posting this 'Request for Help' form Turbo Tax. After answering all the interview questions for deductions and credits for Home Energy Credits - Form 5695 is not being populated/filled out properly. The software is giving me credit for Solar Panel Project I installed; but it is not giving me credit for the Heat Pump Water Heater that I installed. In the 'forms' area, Form 5695 is flagged with a red exclamation point, and is labeled as "(Not Done)". Upon inspection of the line items on the form, I noticed the following issues: Line 21a and 21b are not marked as Yes or No, even though I answered questions in the interview section as 'Yes' Line 21c has my correct address listed - BUT - it is Red Text on a Pink background (indicating some type of issue). Line 29h is filled in with a '0' - BUT - It should be filled in with '596' - BECAUSE - line 29g is 1,988 AND line 29h should be Line 29g multiplied by 0.30 (1,988 X 0.3 = 596). Line 30 should be 596 - BUT - it is '0' Since line 29h is improperly filled out with a '0'. HELP

You would have a form from each loan servicer. Depending on what this is for, we can review rules and amounts.
Would you please tell us more about your forms so we can help you?

Yes, I downloaded my 1099-B from Schwab into TurboTax yesterday. Previous attempts did not give me any error messages. I would get to a page that gave me the option to download into TurboTax when the file was ready, (a toggle button). I turned it on and hit OK button and it died there. Best I can figure my 1099-B was available for download to my computer in .pdf but wasn't available for loading directly to TurboTax until several days later. Again, I never received any error messages and TurboTax just sat there waiting for the download.

If you indicated that you withdrew the excess on your 2024 return, you would not have Form 5329, as no penalty would be assessed. If contributions were made by payroll deduction, the excess would be added to your income and reported on Form 1040 automatically.
Here's more detailed info on Excess HSA Contributions.

I'm working on Form 1041 for an estate which received a non-taxable legal settlement which was deposited to an estate bank account (no interest) and the money were distributed to the beneficiaries. What do I put on line 9 of Schedule B: the amount distributed to the beneficiaries or zero since there was no income earned? Thank You.

I have the same issue. My tax return is ready to be filed and my State requires mail in returns. Unfortunately, I cannot print the federal form 1120, at least not the first 6 pages. So, I'm unable to file my State return. Is this a bug fix that Intuit is working on? It seems like several people have this same issue going on for 2 or 3 weeks now.

Let's break this down.
The hardship payment:
personal resident - not taxable if it offsets the actual cost of temporary housing
rental/ investment - rental income
Corpus - lump sum payment is generally treated as return of capital to reduce your basis rather than being taxable income.
Rentals are reported on Sch E. Investment sales on Sch D, foreign tax paid on Form 1116

Hear this Intuit TurboTax. If my refund is even 1 penny short because of these clowns you have partnered with it will be the very last time I use your services for anything. It's bad enough that they are holding it for a week. I have been using Turbo Tax for many years. I am sure H&R Block would be better that being defrauded in this manner.

When you use dates that are outside the quarter end date being paid, it will cause issues. The dates for estimated tax payments are hard coded in the software for the state program. Based on the information received from the NJ Division of Taxation.

Since you are not the first, let's go through the steps you must take.
Step 1: text or email to spouse asking for their w2 info. Keep a screenshot as proof of their lack of compliance. You have shown good faith effort.
Step 2: consider filing form 8857 - request for innocent spouse relief so that you are taxed solely on your income. See What's an innocent spouse and how does it differ from an injured spouse?
Step 3: file a paper return using your income if you are filing innocent spouse (if not, you can try to estimate their income or just file based on yours) and attach a statement of disclosure.
Explain you are a resident of a community property state
Spouse has refused to provide income documentation
State that you are reporting your income to the best of your ability.
