If entering the amount from your 2024 tax return does not work, then try entering “0” instead. If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.

It is possible the IRS does not have her AGI in their database. Try entering a 0 (zero) for the 2024 AGI and e-file the tax return again.

Some have received a message from Charles Schwab saying downloads would be enabled on Feb 27th.
If you received a "Success" message but your data hasn't appeared in TurboTax, it is likely due to recent browser security updates regarding Local Network Access.
To fix this you need to allow TurboTax to securely retrieve your data through your browser settings:
Locate the View Site Information icon (the "tune" or "lock" icon) on the far left of your address bar, just before the URL.
Find Local Network Access in the dropdown menu.
Toggle the switch to ON.
Refresh the page and attempt your import again.
If permissions aren't the issue, one of the following factors may be at play:
Brokerage Delays: While most forms arrive by January 31, many brokerages delay Consolidated 1099s (like the 1099-B) until mid-February due to complex reporting requirements.
Availability: Your brokerage must specifically "release" the import file to TurboTax. If it isn’t ready, we recommend checking back.
Connection Blocks: Active VPNs or aggressive Anti-Virus software can occasionally block the import feature between your bank and TurboTax. Try disabling them temporarily or switching to a different browser.

Generally, no, you can't recharacterize excess 401(k) employee deferrals as employer contributions for a prior year, even if you are the plan administrator.
You also can't simply apply last year's excess to a future year. Contributions must be allocated to the year in which they were actually made and subject to that year's limits.

@user17712095505 Did you sign into your Intuit account and under Products & Billing -> Expand Turbo Tax ">" on right, click on Licenses & Download to ensure your purchase is listed. If it is you can manually download the State software to your desktop. Once done TT desktop should pick it up and install. This worked for me for two separate tax downloads purchased by phone. If it doesn't work call back in.

I bought the 2024 Tax software for Mac but it doesn't work on my Mac and I am unable to update the software (older Macbook). Can I switch my purchased software to the PC version?

I helped my granddaughter do her returns. It appears it was rejected for AGI that was correct. Used 2024 AGI from TurboTax for the correct amount on Windows. 2025 on Mac. What now?

It worked last year so shouldn't be that difficult to make it work this year.

Box 16 shows the amount of money that is being taxed on your state return.
It sounds like you are referring to a worksheet in the TurboTax program that is calculating a number on your return. If that is the case then you can return here and give more details and we can help with the numbers that you are looking for.
In addition, if you are really looking for information on the calculations that go on behind the scenes in your tax return, then the TurboTax desktop program may be what you need. If you use the desktop program you can switch over and view the actual worksheets any time you like. Here is how to switch from the online program to the desktop program.

You should report the information from the 1099-B on your tax return for 2025, even though there is no tax consequence (because you had no basis in the shares and got nothing for them). The 2 sections you have there look to be correct, but for the Sales info section in between you should include the Description of the securities. Does the 1099-B have acquisition dates for the shares? This should be reported by the broker, but if the shares were acquired on more than 1 date, you can select the button by Something other than a date and report "Various". Since the shared became worthless in 2025, you can use the date provided on the 1099-B, but if not available, use 12/31/2025.
Once you enter than information, the next page states, "Let us know if any of these situations apply to this sale" and you can select "This was a worthless security".
On the cost basis screen that follows you can select "I don't want to make any changes . . .".
On the next screen, you'll need to establish if the shares are short term (one year or less from the date your receive the shares) or long term (over one year).
Please be sure to retain proof that the shares were worthless, such as bankruptcy filings, news articles, etc.
Should you receive the $2/share that you were promised in 2026, you could report that income in 2026.
