I just had to log in to let you know that I am in agreement with you... Amen.
I'm not getting any update except "still being processed" since being accepted April 28, '21... I'm too busy trying to figure out how my granddaughter and I will continue to make ends meet with only part time jobs right now. We don't get any additional support-I need my refund to catch up some bills-and I need to help her with Fall tuition. Losing trust in TurboTax-they're just as bad as IRS in reference to making contact..I hope we all get OUR money soon.

Has nothing to do with efile. I just don't get it why people think it has to do with turbo. I get upset with turbo only cause of the question you may ask and you get the same answers cause of it's automatic, It's not a person answering a question and it's frustrating.
This is mainly a user-to-user discussion forum, not TurboTax support. Questions are answered by other users. There are no "automatic" answers here.

You want to blame TurboTax for the backlog at the IRS?

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days” is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS. Many refunds are taking longer during the pandemic. The IRS is backlogged —-they are still trying to process millions of 2019 returns; they received millions of e-filed on the day they opened for 2020 returns, and now they are burdened with sending out another round of stimulus checks.
Some delays are resulting from incorrect amounts that folks entered for stimulus checks they received. Many people have been confused by the recovery rebate credit and completed it incorrectly. The IRS may delay your refund while they cross-check to see what you received. Some refunds are delayed because of the tax law changes that went into effect recently. If your return has unemployment or the premium tax credit on it, that may be delaying it.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 34of your 2020 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

As of May 15, 2021, we had 300,000 individual tax returns received prior to 2021 in the processing pipeline. Including current year returns, as of May 15, 2021, we had 16.4 million unprocessed individual returns in the pipeline. Unprocessed returns include those requiring correction to the Recovery Rebate Credit amount or validation of 2019 income used to figure the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC). This work does not require us to correspond with taxpayers but does require special handling by an IRS employee so, in these instances, it is taking the IRS more than 21 days to issue any related refund. If, as a result, a correction is made to any RRC, EITC or ACTC claimed on the return, the IRS will send taxpayers an explanation. Each tax return is evaluated on it's own merits. There is no first-in-first-out. Two similar tax return submitted at the same time can have totally different processing times based on IRS criteria for examining tax returns that the IRS does not divulge.
Some returns will be held for ID verification or other verification. The IRS will send a letter if they require more information to process your tax return.
Some are randomly selected for manual processing.
Since..I am paying TurboTax to manage my
e-files...my expectation of Intuit is to at least send out an email stating some in INKLING of a message as to what is going on with our payments....THEY DID IT WHEN THE STIMULUS WAS HELD UP..(remember?). Plus, the IRS is holding up their payments from each of us that used their software. Do you honestly think that either one or more of Intuit staff has not spoken with any "higher-ups" at the IRS? Seriously? All I'm disappointed in is the LEVEL of Customer Service that me-as one of their customers-deserves... and I said what I said and I'm adamant about it, too.
@Htowngirl7 Sorry but your expectations of what TurboTax can do to speed up your refund are unrealistic and not based on how the system works. After you file your tax return and it has been accepted, TurboTax cannot legally get any information about your refund. The IRS is backlogged and millions of people are waiting for their refunds.

As a BILLION dollar Company- my expectations as a little bitty customer should be anticipated by this Financial service company. When you are as large and popular and so wealthy as this company is- w/stock prices trading over $430+ any given day--sorry--but I expect more. You can settle for mediocre- but after using this software to prepare my taxes for well over 15 consecutive years--darn tootin' I'm disappointed. Their LACK of communication to ME-does not meet: nor exceed my expectations. You do you and I'll do me. That's all..
(Signing off--spending time w/my brother:a Vietnam Vet) Happy Memorial day to all.
Thank you for processing my refund. It took a long time, 3 months, but I finally got it. I honestly thought I was never going to get it. I was not in the category of having received anything from the government and some people said that is why I was not getting anything back. But now that IRS process it I just want to thank you. It was under processing for a very very long time. What did I learn from this experience. Maybe it is better to owe them and pay them within a certain amount of time, then having to wait for them to refund you anything. Hopefully IRS will not penalize anyone in the future at least within 3 to 6 months if someone owes them money. This was a long time to wait for the return. Thank you. FD777.
FD777, We have been waiting since Feb. for our refund. Hope we get ours soon also. Guess got to be thankful that we are getting a refund soon, since there are people that has been waiting since 2019 to get their refund.
Htowngirl7, I just don't get why you are upset with turbo. You vented about communication but if people would read they would know that it's NOT the fault of turbo if you are trying to get answers about your refund. All you stated was about the LACK of communication but didn't state what you are trying to communicated to them about.
What part of what turbo can do and can't do? There is a lot of people waiting for their returns, some even from 2019. It's not only turbo tax clients either. There are other companies that has many waiting for their refunds. When BIDEN signed the last stimulus bill in March, many filed their taxes already, HE PUT IN THAT BILL THAT ANY TAX YOU PAID ON UNEMPLOYMENT, INCOME LIMITS, IS FORGIVEN. SO YEAH IRS WAS GIVEN OUT STIMULUS AT THE TIME. AGAIN THEY ARE SHORT STAFF AS WELL AS MANY BUSINESSES THESE DAYS. PLUS A LOT ARE WORKING FROM HOME.
