Are you referring to tax year 2020 or tax year 2021?

For a 2020 amended return, in the help article: How do I amend my 2020 return? step 3 tells you that you would need to paper file your amended return.

@Miketoyota  You began posting in the forum about e-filing amended returns for 2019or 2020 on Feb. 19 under your username Miketoyota.   We keep telling you that you cannot e-file those amended returns but it seems like you do not believe any of the replies you get despite the TurboTax FAQ's, the TT expert replies, etc.   By now you could have mailed those 1040X's and had them on the way to the IRS.   

As already stated multiple times---only a 2021 amended return can be e-filed using TurboTax.  Any earlier tax year has to be printed, signed and filed by mail.

 The reality is that it is still taking the IRS a long time to process amended returns, so the little head start you would get by e-filing would not really even make much difference.

efiling a amended tax is 100 % better than mailing cpa can efile just hoping a company like turbo could

The TurboTax amend process for 2021 will be available soon. When it's ready, you can e-file your 2021 1040-X.

For years prior to 2021, you'll need to print and mail your amended return. Follow these instructions to amend a prior-year return.

Just because the IRS says the prior year, 2019 and 2020, amended return can be e-filed, does not mean that the personal editions of TurboTax will e-file those prior years.

This form is available for use now and you can e-file the current 2021 amended return.  

Be sure to read all the instructions carefully so that TurboTax knows the original numbers and the changed numbers for your amendment.

@DianeW777 I e-filed my 2021 returns using Turbotax Desktop.  I had to amend.  The 1040-X is available.  I completed it, but I can't e-file my amended 2021 return.  When I go to file, I get this (FYI - I live in WI):

Step 1: Save your amended returns

Step 2: Print and mail your amended returns.  Returns (other than WI) must be mailed.

Step 3: E-file your amended WI return.

I updated my Turbo Tax today before I did any of this.

Yes, you should be able to Efile an Amended 2021 return.  However, you don't want to do this until your original return has been processed and you have received your refund.

An Amended Return does not 'catch up' to your original return and correct it.  It is processed separately.   Allow at least 16 weeks for the IRS to process your amended return.

Here's the steps to filing an Amended Return.

Since we can't see your return in this forum, it's difficult to say you are unable to Efile your Amended Federal return.

You could try deleting your 1040X and repeating the process or Contact TurboTax Help.

@MarilynG1 You can't see my return because I filed with the Desktop version of Turbotax.

Yes, I am aware to not file amended until my Fed return has been accepted and I got my refund.

I can't copy and paste the screen showing you the message I get when I try to efile the amended return, so I manually typed what I saw.  You then tell me you can't see my return so you are basically saying "I don't believe you" and proceed to tell me to fix it by deleting and redoing my amended return.   Wow.

What kind of answer is that?  Did you try doing an amended 2021 return on the desktop software to verify what I am telling you?   I guess maybe you don't have access to this?  I'll call support for what it is worth.
