How long ago did your return get filed with Turbo Tax? @Tungpow
Accepted Jan 27th 2022
It is possible your state is experiencing a delay. You can contact them for further assistance.
Tax Department's automated refund-status line anytime at 518-457-5149.
Calling the automated line is useless, and so are the representatives that can basically only read off the screen the same error. The return appears to be lost at this point.
Once you submit your return and the state receives it, TurboTax is not able to view or assist you with your return. For your convenience, please click here for more assistance with your state return. Please select your correct state from the list to proceed.
Same here with New York return. Filed and accepted on Feb 4 2022.
Still get the same status update message: The information you have entered does not match our records.
Entered information is correct.
Per NYS, if the information you enter when you check your refund status does not match what's in our system, you may receive one of the messages below. To troubleshoot, follow the numbered steps provided.
Troubleshooting:
Note: Our representatives are not permitted to provide your refund amount, even after verifying your identity. You must refer to the return you filed or request a copy of your filed return by filing Form DTF-505, Authorization for Release of Photocopies of Tax Returns and/or Tax Information. Allow 30 days to process your request for a copy.
Just tried it again.. enter the whole dollar amount from line 78 on form IT-201 and it generated the same message:
"The information you have entered does not match our records. "
I'm almost certain this is an issue with NYS refund status tool.
@LenaH
I would suggest contacting the New York State Tax Department directly to have them check into this. You can contact them directly by clicking here. @MasterUMC
Same issue here (2021 filing).
This is an issue with the NY Tax Refund site not people putting in the wrong information.
Seems like they have a backlog for getting them into the system after accepting the return.
Last year took around 10 days after acceptance as a guide for it to show up on the site.
Until then you will also get this error - I tend to re try once every 24 hours to check on progress..
The information entered doesn't match the amount on your New York State return. Please verify that you are entering the same information that was reported on your New York State return. If the information doesn't match this time, you will be unable to use this service for 24 hours. See Understanding your refund status on our website.
I am getting the same message as well. I double/triple-checked the refund amount but the error message does not go away.
I spoke to them - NYS has a backlog apparently.
Even those they accepted my return over 9 days ago - it's going to take at least 15 days to show in that system to track refund.
Meanwhile I already got my federal refund. NYS seem to be having some major issues again this year.
18 days since return accepted, and I'm still getting the same error (and yes I checked to make sure I have the right data entered)... so quite a backlog, it seems.
@ech68 Accepted means your e-file has passed inspection (such as Social Security numbers are correct and dependents haven't already been claimed) and the government has your tax return. Your state may be taking awhile to be updated, please keep checking.
You can go to your state government's refund lookup service for more information or to call.
Status finally changed after three weeks. Anecdotally I can confirm what others have said: this is just a totally misleading status message ("does not match" status really means, "We've got your return, but we haven't done anything with it yet"). I don't see anyone reporting that, after a month or so of waiting, there was an actual mismatch between their TurboTax efile and the actual record received by NYS.
Based on past years, now I wait another 6 weeks until refund is received. Sigh...
