I think I made a mistake on my taxes
I had made a mistake on my taxes and I need to correct them and I want to know what I need to do to correct it so I can get my refund back.
@chariewilliams1025 No one can see your return. We cannot tell you how to fix a mistake we cannot see. Please explain what mistake was made. And....did you already e-file? Was the return accepted?
got a letter that said an error on recovery rebate credit. they cut my check by 1,400 dollars ive never had such a low refund .. nothing has changed in years
Last year i was audited and my return was lowerd 3000.00 dollars
You made a mistake on my federal taxes it went from 2222 down to 822 according to the IRS , they had to make an adjustment because of this I do not think I should pay for such bad service this was your mistake not mine and this IRS checked my history maybe you should have done the same, after all I did file with you last year this is very poor service and iam very unsatisfied, Just for the record John Koerlin is my brother and does not live at this address
Thank You
Miss Katherine Koerlin
@Kkoerlin The difference is $1,400. Did you enter the amount you got for the 3rd Stimulus payment? You tried to claim it again on 1040 line 30 for the Recovery Rebate Credit. Line 30 is only if you didn't get the full amount or qualify for more.
Double check your bank statements and check your IRS account to see what they sent you. Check both IRS accounts if married.

If the IRS says they sent it to you but you didn't get it then Request a trace for a missing third Stimulus payment

My whole SS is being taxed on my 1040 2021 taxes. I don't know what if anything that I am doing wrong.
TT is showing all of SS as taxable.

No it is not. Look at your federal tax return Form 1040 Line 6b for the taxable amount of the Social Security benefits you entered.

That is not possible. Even for high income person taxable SS can never be more then 85%.
Look on your 1040 form lines 6a and 6b for the SS income on 6a and the taxable amount on 6b.
Turbotax entered a dollar amount on line 30 which was not supposed to be there. My refund was cut by $1600. IRS said this issue was being repeated by turbotax with a number of people this year. I need to get this issue resolved as soon as possible.
It is on the tax year 2021.

@ladibug340gmail How did YOU answer the questions about the recovery rebate credit in Federal Review? If you answered incorrectly then your line 30 was incorrect.
LOTS of people have made mistakes this year with the recovery rebate credit by "forgetting" that they received the $1400 per person stimulus checks last year. They answered no to the questions for the recovery recovery rebate credit and put the $1400 per person on line 30 of their returns. But you cannot get it twice, so the IRS removes it when it is there by mistake.
Try checking your online account with the IRS

Does the IRS show that you received a $1400 stimulus or EIP check in 2021? Did you receive it? When you were asked on your tax return did you say no? Was there $1400 on line 30 of your tax return?
If the IRS says you got $1400 last year but you did not receive it you can have it traced.
LOST THIRD STIMULUS CHECK
The IRS changed my refund making it $2,800.00 less than my 2021 Turbotax Basic download software calcilated. The reason given is "We changed the amount claimed as Recovery Rebate Credit on your tax return." I am sure the IRS is correct, however, I would like to know where Turbotax or I made the error.

If your refund is short $2,800 then that is because you indicated in the TurboTax program that you did not receive the 3rd stimulus payment and the IRS has records that show you were sent the 3rd stimulus payment so they removed the $2,800 Recovery Rebate Credit that was entered on Form 1040 Line 30.
