What did they change ?
IRS said they made changes to my tax return and they changed amount of my refund from $1800 to $0.
I checked all the figures and my SS and wifes SS. The $1800 was basically for stimulas money my wife was entitled too.

If the IRS removed the $1,800 Recovery Rebate Credit then the IRS has records showing that it was sent.
Go to this IRS website for you tax account - https://www.irs.gov/payments/view-your-tax-account
If you were eligible for the payments but never received the first and second stimulus payments you can initiate a trace on those payments.

I won't use Turbo Tax ever again! I've been using Turbo Tax for about 10 years. This time, I filed everything as usual. The difference is in the stimulus check part. I did not receive the 2nd stimulus last Dec. of $1200.00. They said if you do not get the check, just claim it on your taxes. Which I did. Filled in early March. According to Turbo Tax, expected to refund $2121.00. July 12 I got a bill from IRS that I OWED $280.45! That's a loss of about $2400.00! I went back through all the "Guarantees and promises from Turbo Tax. If they made the mistake, they will only pay "Interest and Penalties ".
@Looney911 How much was on your 1040 line 30? It should be only the 1200 you didn't get. Could you have gotten the second 1200 after you filed? The second Stimulus payment could have come in Jan-March 2021.
You said I had a return coming last year.
Instead I owe 1200.00
As per TerukoL, if you believe that TurboTax made a mistake on your taxes, please follow the directions listed below. Please click this TurboTax Help link How do I submit a claim under the TurboTax 100% Accurate Calculation Guarantee or 100% Accurate, Expert Approved Guarantee? to learn more.
Before you submit your claim, make sure that:
@Westerfield
1200 exactly means you claimed a tax credit that had been already been paid.
Some how line 27 got checked , and I don't have children any more.
I just finished doing my taxes 10 minutes ago.
Box 27 got checked. That I have a child. I don't have any now.
2021 today I have the mistake.
Line 27 of what form? And did you efile the return yet ? If you did has it been accepted yet ?
I'm trying to figure out if TurboTax says you are owed stimulus check and the IRS says no do they have to pay the difference
No. Sorry. You filled out the tax return. You must have claimed too much Recovery rebate credit on line 30. Did you enter the amount you already received during the year? Did you get the IRS letter 6475 saying how much they sent you? Line 30 is only if you qualify for more. Did the IRS change the dependents on your return?
Go back and check your bank statements. If you got less than what the IRS says they sent you then you can put a trace on the missing amount.
