Where’s my federal refund?

I just received a request for payment for my 2020 tax filing. I wrote to you in a while back looking for my refund and was told it was being processed and the delay was because of Covid-19. We had agreed you would be paid when I received the refund. We should keep to that agreement and you should find out what is causing the holdup. I have been a good client for the past several years and if you wish to retain me, you should find out why I have not received the refund. I thank you for your effort to get to the bottom of this problem with the IRS.

You received an email that we cannot see that tells you why your tax return was rejected.  

Some rejected returns can be fixed and re-filed.  Some have “un-fixable” reasons for the rejection and have to be mailed instead. What is the rejection code or rejection message? 

 If it was rejected for AGI—-be aware that many 2019 returns took so long for the IRS to process that your 2019 AGI might not be in the IRS system.   Try using zero instead.

If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year.  The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.

Or—-if you filed as a “non-filer” just to get the stimulus check on a 2019 return, try using $1 as the AGI.

If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.

So what the IRS told you wasn't true. They claimed they didn't get it, correct? But on turbo it showed that the IRS  received it.

@Lovely757 You have posted to this thread three times with no details whatsoever.    We do not know what issue you are having, so we have no way to know how to help you.   If you need help with your tax return please post some information, but do not post anything personal like SSN's, emails, etc.

Please tell me the status of my refund. I used  TTax efile to get things processed fast, but it is taking forever. Looks loke you system sucks. Over promises and under delivers. I'll never use efile again.

The IRS is running behind due to COVID, CARES Act, stimulus and a huge amount of mailed tax returns being filed this year.

TurboTax only gives the general IRS (most returns are processed within 21 days) date. The actual date is known only by the IRS. TurboTax also does not adjust the general date for anything on the tax return. TurboTax receives no feedback from the IRS after filing.

The IRS says most refunds will be issued within 21 days - some faster, some longer.
(Most means more than half so many take longer - MUCH longer)

Each tax return is evaluated on it's own merits. There is no first-in-first-out. Two similar tax return submitted at the same time can have totally different processing times based on IRS criteria for examining tax returns that the IRS does not divulge.

Some returns will be held for ID verification or other verification. The IRS will send a letter if they require more information to process your tax return.

I’m not sure who this remark is addressed to.? I for one was checking to make sure our taxes were in fact sent to the IRS because they say on the IRS website they didn’t receive them? Since then, people on here state yes it’s just how things are done? I’m giving it 2 weeks then checking again. So how’s that.?

Parker, If you go to your account on turbo it should say in the upper right when it was sent and when it was received. You said that they told you that they never received your taxes.  When you go to IRS site to check for status it should say it's still be processing  and would give you a date when sent. I been doing this since March. I don't get why they are saying that they never received your tax papers cause it was done by turbo and they would be the ones that sent them in. Or did you print them out and mailed them??

Its not my fault that irs held my redund turbo tax needs to wait for that tefund

Has nothing to do with efile. I just don't get it why people think it has to do with turbo. I get upset with turbo only cause of the question you may ask and you get the same answers cause of it's automatic, It's not a person answering a question and it's frustrating.
