Where’s my federal refund?

Trying to confirm my 2020 return was completed.

Where’s my federal refund?

Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted?
Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.

You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large Orange button labeled "Transmit my returns now".

After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.

Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.

To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product.
If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions

Where’s my federal refund?

I filed in February and still have not gotten the refund.  It was to take the TurboTax charge out of my refund.  Now I get something saying that you are drafting my bank for the fee.

Where’s my federal refund?

Sounds like the IRS is taking too long to send your refund or reduced it. See What if the IRS reduces your refund or delays it.
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/payments/help/what-if-my-federal-refund-isn-t-enough-to-cover-my-t...

Then when the IRS does send your refund they won't take the fees out again.

And, Why you got charged,
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/charges-and-fees/help/why-was-my-bank-account-auto-debited-for-tur...

You should have received about 4 emails asking for the fees. If you don't pay they will debit your account. You had to agree to it.

ID THEFT has caused the IRS to require proof of identity. Your tax refund will not move forward unless you clear this up. I don't have any more information as it was near impossible to get through. Look for a letter from them telling you what to do,  also go to idverify.irs.org (not confirmed) BUT ALSO be warned there is a SCAM that sends you a letter to get you to give your information to guess who...... IDENTITY THEFT CRIMINALS..WTF!

Where’s my federal refund?

My federal taxes were filed and excepted February 18th.  I still haven't received my refund.  They were simple taxes fixed up by you.  I believe there is something wrong on the forms.  Is there anyway we can re-checki those taxes.  I need my refund money.  I check every day and it says it is still processing.  Please email me and let me know something as I have been a customer of yours for several years.   My email address is [email address removed].

Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

Or you can contact your local IRS office. See this IRS website for local IRS offices - http://www.irs.gov/uac/Contact-Your-Local-IRS-Office-1 or call 1-844-545-5640 to set up an appointment
Or you may want to contact a Taxpayer Advocate in your area. See this IRS website for Taxpayer Advocate in your area and a toll free number - http://www.irs.gov/Advocate/Local-Taxpayer-Advocate

Where’s my federal refund?

Thank you for that because I was thinking the same thing, that there’s probably something wrong on my return because the TurboTax Live agent that helped me was baffled on a few of the changes that took place with this year’s returns & the changes. He had me put both of my RideShare incomes together as one because I didn’t make a whole lot to get a1099 from one of them. Then I filled a 1099 from last year that Uber sent me back on September 2020, Uber messed up on my earnings so I had to file it with this years & I told the agent that as well. So I don’t know, I haven’t gotten a letter from the IRS regarding my taxes, the only kinda correspondence I received was one from the IRS/POTUS telling me about the stimulus deposit that was deposited into my account two months prior. But idk, all of this is just messed up for everybody & especially the ones who aren’t back to work yet like in my case. I pray Everything works out for Everybody.

Where’s my federal refund?

That’s what I have a problem with. Why charge you customers when we haven’t even received our refunds yet & it’s not just because of the IRS, because I know a lot of people who have children & claimed EIC CCTC & etc & got their refund back. I  started my return back on February 12th & because I had some things I wasn’t sure about I opted for TurboTax Live & got an agent to help me & go over everything because of the changes this year. Now I understand they have a job contracted or otherwise doesn’t matter but it’s a job. However, the job they were hired for isn’t complete! Why pay for some work that CLEARLY IS NOT FINISHED? I can’t get paid for taking someone half way to their destination… I won’t get paid until I complete the job! Like am I the only one who finds that messed up especially with the financial hardships that have been plaguing the U.S.! Like come on that’s truly not fair. I don’t know, I’m going to have to really give this some thought about how I’m going to file next year honestly. Because I barely worked last year because of the Pandemic? I barely worked 3 months, I barely made $600 from my main part time work & haven’t gotten my return but TurboTax wants their $194.50 when it clearly shows I was charged $194 but even with that I’m trying to figure out why that price is so high especially when you didn’t get your taxes back within the timeframe TurboTax says you’ll get it back. All this is frustratingly horrendous & mind boggling

Where’s my federal refund?

Thank you, I’m so happy to see I’m not the only one why finds that really messed up. Like they’re getting paid for a job half done! Like who does that? There’s millions of people who used TurboTax & who like me used TurboTax Live & I’m sure they got paid for those completed returns & refunds right…so why charge people who haven’t gotten THEIR refunds back yet? We utilized TurboTax’s system to fold our returns but haven’t gotten our refunds, Hint…Job isn’t complete until we get our refunds. That’s like me starting to work on someone’s home & half way in I stop because a problem arose with the company that lets me use their equipment & they’re backlogged & my customer had to wait for me to complete the job because I’m waiting on the manufacturer…So the customers home isn’t finished & I’m telling them I’m still going to charge them regardless of who it is that I’m waiting on…You don’t do that, that’s not fair to say the least.

Where’s my federal refund?

I swear I was thinking about doing that but my thing is I’m not like that. Then again if it’s fair that they get paid for a job half done? TurboTax don’t know if it’s something that their CPA’s might have done wrong! Like I paid for TurboTax Live, my agent was cool but he was confused about the new forms & everything else that was going on, it was like he was winging it & hoping my taxes would be accepted. I started on the 12th of February & had to stop & get help & TurboTax didn’t give me an appointment until 12 days later on the 24th of February which I thought was strange but I went with it bc I figured I still had time before the IRS Would get backed up & I wouldn’t get caught up in that back up. Now It’s almost 60 days later & I’m still waiting on my refund.

Where’s my federal refund?

How do you ask for an extension? I’d like the extension to start after June 4th or before they charge my bank account. The crazy part is there’s nothing there & I’ll get an overdraft which will put me even more behind. But yeah, how do you ask for an extension.
