Ok, how did you make the changes in Turbo Tax? Did you use the Online version or the Desktop program? What did you change on the Amended return? It may not affect 2022 or be needed.
I only used TurboTax online.
The change for 2021 was that I had expenses from an LLC partnership, which I claimed as deductions on my personal tax return under Schedule C, but then realized that because it is a partnership I should have filed Form 1065. I got that corrected and the 1065 filed and then amended my personal return so the deductions are reported correctly (with Schedule K I believe). This also changed my refund amount.
Does it matter if this information is not on my 2021 return in TurboTax if I want to do taxes with TurboTax for 2022?
i would start with transferring the data from Turbotax. was the partnership a passive activity or have a loss?
* if a passive activity and a loss the loss might not be deductible or limited. that would have to be fixed for 2022
also if a loss then passive or not there is likely a qualified business loss carryover that would need to be entered.
* it's possible other items in your return would need changing we can't see your returns so have no way of knowing all the effects of switching from schedule c to a partnership.
Yes, I understand. But how do I transfer the data to this year?
If you used the online version last year, it will automatically transfer certain information to this year's return when you log on.
Please see these help articles on what is transferred and how to transfer.
When transferring a .tax file, what information carries over to my return?
How do I transfer last year's return into TurboTax?
Yes, thank you. But the whole point of my question was that I used a CPA to amend my turbotax return from last year. How do I enter this amended return into turbotax so the changes get transferred over to this year?
But you originally said you went through the steps in Turbo Tax to amend to make it match? Then your 2021 return should be the amended one. Or how did you do the "amended" one in TT? Did you use the same online account as the original return? Even if you just changed your TT return without doing it as an amended return it will transfer the changes.
Sorry, let me clarify: After I amended my return with my CPA, I went through the steps to amend my return in TurboTax without actually filing it (since it got filed through my CPA), in the hopes that when I then do my return in TurboTax for this year, it would transfer over. But it doesn't seem to transfer over. Any way to have the information transfer over to this year?
Right. Doesn't matter that you did not file it with Turbo Tax. It still should have transferred. It will transfer whatever is in your online account. Which would be anything you changed. If you made the changes they should be there. Don't know what else to tell you. Unless you have another account? Download the 2021 pdf file and see if it has the original or the amended return.
How to Access prior year online returns

If you can't get the side menus to open up to access the prior year..... You need to start entering some basic Personal Info in 2022 for the side menu to open up. Just continue a little ways into 2022. I had to go though about 12 screens.
You could try calling in and ask. How to contact Turbo Tax
