It has been over a month and I still have not recieved my refund. I had a very simple return. I have never had to wait this long. IRS tracking tool just says processing.

I hate to be "the bearer of bad news", but I like you all  filed on time and still haven't received my tax refund or stimulus check way pass the common 21 to 60 day mark. So after a little digging, I found out that all of our funds are being held hostage because of rogue agents embezzling, and to hide their activities they were over paying some Americans, but the worst part was authoring payment toward foreignors with temporary and permanent green cards. So now they have to stop our payments in an attempt to recover the funds from those individuals. The kicker here is that the law states that if they cannot recover funds from those wrongly paid individuals bank accounts, they do not have to repay it back! So how many of those individuals are going to give the IRS back free money? The US Treasury is almost at it's loan capacity and most of our bills are way over due. So by the time our payments arrive they will be going directly into the hands of our debt collectors. Cheers!

It has been over a month and my taxes are still being processed. I am unable to reach a live agent. What do I do? this is also holding up my stimulus payment- because my return is still being processed. What can I do to find out the true status of my return, I have never had this issue in the past? IT's not like my tax return is complicated. How can I get the ball rolling on my simple return

Waiting is frustrating—refunds are taking longer in many cases.  These are not normal times.  It is not possible for TurboTax to speed up the IRS for you.  It seems to be taking longer than usual for them to process returns.  They are short staffed; and they are processing millions of tax returns at the same time that they have been burdened with the task of processing millions of stimulus checks.  The IRS is not taking calls right now.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

Electronic returns are being processed; paper returns that are on hold.  However, if your return is ''still being processed'' and shows Topic 152, they are reviewing something on your return which has to be done manually.   So, it is very unlikely that anything will change on the IRS site before they resume normal operations.   Keep checking Where's My Refund?

Once it is accepted, only the IRS can provide you information on the timing aspect - so then we are back to them not taking calls.

I am in the same situation. I filed them on March 28 and still nothing. I called Turbo Tax and a very nice lady explained to me that just yesterday 8,000 IRS employees went back to work. They were in lock down too and they gave priority to the stimulus checks and the letters.  I am really frustrated too.

I'm sorry to hear that, but like you too, I still haven't received my Refund Check and I filed early in March 2020. From what I've heard is that "Our information or Application is lost in the IRS System" and that's why it's repeatedly say" Still being Processed". You will not be able to talk to anyone or contact anyone who will answer your questions period! And "you will not be receiving your Income Tax Refund either"! Personally, I blame Turbo Tax because only these free online services that deceptively charge a fee is experiencing this problem.

Wrong. I paid someone to do my taxes. I efiled on March 3rd. I’m still processing. These services are not the only ones affected.

At issue here, even for efilers, is if there are any questions or concerns found regarding your return.  I efiled in mid-February.  My daughter efiled a week later.  She got her refund in 7 days.  My return status went from the typical status bar indicating that is was received and being processed, to after about 3 weeks, the status bar going away and just the words indicating that my return is still being processed and a refund date will be provided when available.  In March, I finally was able to speak to an agent, on the afternoon of the last day the processing centers were open.  She tried to find out what the hold up was, but she could tell me there was an issue but not what the issue was.  So, no one available to actually research and process returns once the centers shut.  Stimulus check processing then took precedence as well.  If your return didn't have an issue and you efiled, you would have gotten you refund.  If, however, there is any question or mistake on your return, expect nothing until perhaps July.

Once your return has been accepted by the IRS, the refund process is completely under the control of the IRS. The IRS says that most refunds would be issued within 21 days. But some returns need more processing and refunds will take longer, especially during these Covid-19 times when some IRS agents still work remotely.

Please read this IRS FAQ for more information.

Please be patient, the situation will get better soon as some IRS agents are returning to their desks. You can check the status of your refund at this IRS web portal.

They send 3 emails over a course of weeks reminding you that they will be debiting your account. I’m that time you could call and have them defer the payment.

It’s in the small print that you agreed to when agreeing to have the fee taken out of your refund, including the fact of after some time your refund isn’t sent out, that you could be debited. It’s not wrong for them to want payment for their services, which is simply to prepare your return and send it out.  You agreed to pay for the services regardless. It’s not TurboTax’s fault that there is a pandemic and the IRS doesn’t have its sh— together.

also, TurboTax has never been free unless you meet the income limits or only receive w-2, no benefits, no investments, etc. It says “start for free, pay when you file.”
