Is any one having issues with opening saved ".tax" files into the Mac version of Turbo Tax? Everything was working fine, but as of yesterday I can't to open .tax files.

I am receiving an error saying "The document xxxxxxx has the wrong tax year is wrong or some other issue that prevents us from opening it.". All files are stored locally, not in iCloud, they are not encrypted, tried to open using "right click and open with" and opening from within the TT app. I receive the same massage with either method. I tried opening prior Tax Year .tax (2020 to 2024) files into the appropriate year TT with the same results. I tried installing a new version of TT 2024 on a different Mac device, started a return and saved then tried to reopen. Received the same message when opening the file I had just created. All devices meet the minimum macOS (One is running Venture 13 the other Sequoia 16) and are unto date with all MacOS updates.

There is this, but I don't think your problem sounds like this

After you get the program installed or reinstalled the first thing to do before you open your tax return is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW). Enter some basic information, then go to the state tab and download the state program. Then try to open your existing return, go to FILE - OPEN

Thank you.  Tried that with out any success.  It is acting like all my TT files are corrupted.

Tried creating a new file on a new device with the State installed and TT 2024 won't even open the file I just created.

I have all my tax returns and TT software Back to 2012, and I ma unable to open any of them.

Always the same message about wrong Tax Year or corrupted file.

I'm experiencing the same problem with one of two 2024 tax returns I prepared. The difference between the two files is I used Time Machine to recover the .tax file that Turbo Tax  cannot now open.  If anyone can suggest a fix or work around, I'll be most grateful.  I'm running Sequoia 15.3.2.

Please see how do I find my tax data file (.tax file) in Mac for possible locations on your computer where you can look to recover the original tax file.

There is also a possible solution provided by a customer in this thread that you can try if the first link does not assist.  Essentially, look for a file named "unsaved TurboTax document" to locate your .tax file.
