My 2019 Were Reject So I Needed To File 2020 How Can I Do That?

@lfsatter Your rejected 2019 return can be printed, signed and mailed if you get it accomplished by April 18, 2023---after that you forfeit the refund.   As for 2020---use the CD/download software to prepare it and file by mail.  E-filing is closed for 2020 returns.

Online preparation and e-filing for 2019 and 2020 and 2021 is permanently closed.

To file a return for a prior tax year

 If you need to prepare a return for 2019, 2020 or 2021 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s)

You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.

Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

Note:  The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It cannot be used on a mobile device.

If you are getting a refund, there is not a penalty for filing past the deadline.  If you owe taxes, the interest/penalties will be calculated by the IRS based on how much you owe and when they receive your return and payment. The IRS will bill you for this; it will not be calculated by TurboTax.

You only have until April 17, 2022 to file a 2019return and still receive a refund.  If you file a 2019 return past that deadline, your 2019 refund will not be paid to you—it will be forfeited—the IRS will keep it.

@Jasminestokes123 It is not clear why you want your 2020 AGI.   You would have needed it to e-file a 2021 return, but you cannot e-file 2021 now---just so you know.   2021 has to be filed by mail if that is what you are doing, and you do not need AGI for that.

If you need your AGI for some other reason, it will be on line 11 of your 2020 Form 1040.

SAVE YOUR TAX RETURN !

EVERY year before mid-October you should save a copy of your tax return as a pdf and print a copy of it for your records.  That way you will not be searching online frantically when you need it for a lender, FAFSA forms, your next tax return, etc.

NOTE:  TurboTax and the IRS save returns for seven years.  Returns older than seven years are purged.
