@JimHod194 I am going to list a few things that could be causing this issue with the continue button below.
This can happen when there is a non-alpha-numeric character in your name or addresses.
Remove all non-alpha-numeric characters and the continue button will light up for you.
For example:
Jon Ezra Jr. should be changed to Jon Ezra Jr (removing the . after Jr)
Mical F. Lior should be changed to Mical F Lior (removing the . after the middle initial).
Also, remove the # in apartment numbers and 's in names.
121 Turbo Drive Apt. # 21 should be written as -121 Turbo Drive Apt 21
De'Angelo Jesus should be written as DeAngelo Jesus for the continue button to work.

If you are using Windows 10 and some buttons don't work or fields won't accept entry, this TurboTax FAQ has step-by-step instructions to help.
Troubleshoot blank screens, missing buttons, or missing images
If none of the above have helped, have you tried performing a manual update or checking to make sure all of your state forms are available?
Please see the TurboTax FAQ's below for instructions:
I can't efile my state return but it efiled my fed.. it tells me something on my return is not normal .
Does it give you a specific error or mention what is incorrect?
Also, which state are you trying to file?
The problem was in the page requesting credit card information - I had entered my name (first, middle initial and last) with a period after the middle initial. Evidently Intuit Turbotax online doesn't allow special characters.
Problem is: it never told me what the problem field was.
This problem was solved the next day. Taxes have been filed and refunds received. I had to delete the state, submit the Federal and re-enter the state. I think the problem was payment. Even though I checked the box to pay and file the state, it only charged for the Fed. Once I re-entered the state it prompted for the state payment and submission accomplished.
I am having this same issue. I called support and they do not have an answer. The answer from a supervisor was to take back the Turbo Tax CD and try to get my money back?? They really need to resolve this issue!
What is the error message you are receiving and where in the program?
Which state are you filing your return for?
several days ago I tried to e-mail my federal and state tax returns, several times, but they kept kicking back due to perceived “inheritance IRA distribution” even though I had no inheritance IRA distribution
Then I e-filed my federal 2020 return successfully two days ago (after new software upgrade. today i tried to e-file my two state returns, but I could not because the software said “E-file requires federal return, to e-file, you must also select federal return, click back to select federal and any other returns you’d like to file.”
This puts me in an endless loop. please help me to e-file my two state returns (or refund my $50 and I’ll paper-file them)

There does appear to be a new issue that is developing for desktop users. Are you using desktop software?
Has your efiled Federal return been accepted? It has to be accepted before you can efile the state return by itself. Do these steps first:
With your return open, in the top left corner of TurboTax, in the menubar click on the FILE menu, and in the dropdown choose "Electronic Filing."
Then in the next menu choose "Check Electronic Filing Status." (hopefully, it will say "accepted.")
Then SAVE the return.
I'd then close TurboTax and relaunch it.
Then try to efile the state return.
If problem persists, then you are probably one of the users with this issue. Please report back on your results. I've also flagged this for a Moderator in case it's another instance. @TasnimH2
Hi @Brian0101 Please check this out and sign up for email notifications regarding this specific issue.
Hope this helps. Thank you!
Thank you to everyone. I manipulated something and it finally worked.
It's for the state of Colorado. We sold property. I spent over 20 hours working on this the past month, 3 calls with TurboTax, thought we had it fixed today. Went to efile and it's asking for a W2 or 1099 for the sale of property. I had to pay before efile - now it's asking for payment again. I have a receipt.
I recommend calling us to discuss your account.
Let the agent know why you need a credit and they will be able to assist you.
I am having the same problem for Maryland. I received an email that my Federal has been accepted and in Turbo Tax under File, it states my Federal has been accepted. However when I try to E-file my state it says go back and select Federal, which is not an option. Below is says my Federal has been transmitted. Seems like a bug that needs to be fixed!!

This is a known issue for some desktop TurboTax users that is expected to be resolved in a product update on March 19, 2021.
