Why am i being charged 50 dollars when i already paid 40 dollars to file??

You appear to currently be in Online Self-Employed; at least that is what is shown underneath your question.    Did you start out in Online Deluxe at $40 and upgraded to Self-Employed edition?

Online Self-Employed is $90 for Federal and $40 for state.  So it sounds like $50 is the upgrade difference for moving from Deluxe to Self-Employed edition.

You said you already paid $40 to file.   Did you already file your returns in Online Deluxe?   If so, what are you trying to do now??

I only paid for deluxe cause that's what i was filing under. But the next day i checked it it said self employed an i never switched to self employed. What im filing taxes for isn't self employed.. How can i change it back to deluxe? Or can i change it. It never filed im assuming cause the lady i talked to on the phone said she saw where it said didn't file yet. But she didnt know why or how to change it back to deluxe.

It charges you the $50 to file at the end if you choose the option to have the fees taken from your refund. Instead, use the option of paying for it up front and it will only charge you the $20 processing fee. I had the same issue.

Apparently you were upgraded for some reason, and it's asking for the $50 in difference between the two editions.   If you actually already paid for Deluxe previously, it won't let you downgrade since you can't clear the return to start over.   You can only downgrade if you haven't submitted payment, deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund, or registered.

I'm wondering how you ended up in Self-Employed after already paying for Deluxe.   Did you have any self-employed income for any business, independent contractor, etc.?   Did you enter a 1099-MISC?

Is that correct?   Have you efiled yet or not?  When you log into your account, what status is showing at the Tax Home?

Or is it asking for the $50 payment before you can even proceed to try to efile?    Unfortunately, there are no tricks we can tell you in this user forum to get back to Deluxe if you already paid for it.

You can phone Support again and explain what happened.  Tell them you ended up being upgraded to Self-Employed by mistake after already paying for Deluxe, and ask them if they will please provide you a service code so you can go ahead and efile.

I Did  enter a 1099-MISC.. When i click on left top part where the amount shows says in progress. An then on the file part says You've gotten such an amazing head start on your taxes this year that some of the forms you need to complete your federal return haven't been finalized. An then ask for the $50

What was the 1099-MISC for?  What type of income?      In what box number of the 1099-MISC do you have income?

Did you enter the 1099-MISC before or after you had already paid for Deluxe?

When you go through the REVIEW section, does it tell you any form you are waiting on?  Almost every form is available.   Is it a Federal form or a state form?

I entered it in on line 3 and its a dividend and it was added before i paid.. It was for federal i guess and after i finished filling everything out is when i paid for deluxe. I've never had this problem before an I've been using turbo tax for 5 years or more

Are you sure it was a 1099-MISC and not a 1099-DIV?   Why was a 1099-MISC considered a dividend--is this an Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend by any chance?  I know the Alaska PFD comes on a 1099-MISC.  Usually other types of dividends are reported to a taxpayer most commonly on a 1099-DIV or less commonly on a K-1.

In any case, I'm a fellow user, not a tax expert.   if you were upgraded to Self-Employed Edition after having paid for Deluxe either accidentally or due to something in your return, there's not anything that can be done in this user forum to resolve that here since you cannot start the return over after already paying.   The only folks who can address your fee issue and any business form you are awaiting are TurboTax Support.   You would need to talk to them again, and if they agree you don't need Self-Employed Edition, ask them if they would provide you a service code.  

If TurboTax thinks you have a business for some reason, then the form you are awaiting before you can efile might be for the Qualified Business Income (QBI) deduction.  I don't know if it's available yet or not; I know it was delayed.  But that's just a guess.   I have no way of knowing "which" form you are awaiting.  You might be able to tell by going through the REVIEW section.   Ask Support about that issue as well.
