I got a tax advocate that helped me get my 2019 return because you could never get an answer from the irs all the y would ever say is were reviewing it now around november I had been told to call another number at the irs who said they needed paystubs for all of 2019 then nothing so I got a tax advocwte because just like now when you call the Irs you cant get anyone on the phone
Hi can I ask who you contacted. My status is stuck in error as well and it's been a long time.
Being "stuck" in the "errors" department cannot usually be fixed by a taxpayer advocate but you can try.
Unfortunately that department was forced to handle 50+ million returns that needed to be manually processed and they were not prepared to handle the volume returns so the time table for processing them is extremely long. On top of that the files are not being processed in a first in first out system ... instead they are being processed by the correction needed (easier ones first) and only after the original return has been processed. This delay is an unfortunate side affect of the late tax law changes and the understaffed, overtasked IRS is doing the best they can under difficult circumstances.
It took me a year to get my 2019 i did get a tax advocate because every time i cwlled the irs they always said it was under review but never said why then around november of last year finally got told they needed paystubs for 2019 sent it to them and still got no where so i got me a tax advocate and got my check in april i filed february of last year then my 2020 tax return got delayed i filed it in march and got it this month
My taxes is in the error department with the IRS how long does it take to get my refund and will the status change on the website
The irs told me it would take 10 weeks
Since this is information with the IRS, they would need to be the ones assisting you with this. Once your return has been transmitted, you are then on their timeline.
Have you already spoken with an agent directly or did you receive this information via their WMR site, letter, or automated system. An easier way to reach out to a live agent is as follows:
IRS: 800-829-1040
Hours: 7 AM - 7 PM, local time
Monday-Friday
Well I called a tax advocate and was told there's nothing they can do when its in errors department so yall can stop telling that lie.
If the IRS is holding your return for review, Turbo Tax will not know why. Turbo Tax does not see anyone return, we simply provide the platform for you to prepare them. The best thing you can do is contact the IRS to inquire. However, they should send a letter to you regarding your issue.
How do I contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)?

I wasn't saying tgat turbo tax is at fault i was letting others know that a tax advocate cant help when its in errors only the irs can do something about that
It is not actually stuck in resolution. IRS says that I owe about $3000 more than TT calculated for 2021.

The IRS would have sent you a letter of explanation for why they believe you owe more than what you reported on the 2021 tax return, If you agree with the IRS then pay the amount owed. If you disagree with the IRS there is a procedure in the notice you received for how to proceed.
What did the IRS change or add on your 2021 return to come up with the amount owed?
